Crown Central Business District Motel - No under 18s

Absolute scam!!! Was booked to stay then saw accommodation was not for a child to be exposed to. Seedy people hanging around, filthy room and staff that do not answer their phone or reply to text messages. Do not stay here! Have requested refund with no response. Dirty, unhygienic, door communication and unsafe!

The room that we stayed in was large and the beds were comfortable, but sadly that is where it ends. We were not sent information about how to access our room and the mobile number given for the property rang out twice before we were sent access information. There is no reception. We had to access our room via a dirty laneway where cafe workers were smoking. The constant noise in the laneway was frustrating. The floors had not been vacuumed and had hair and tissue remnants etc all over them. The skirting boards were dusty as was the two bedside tables. The fridge was grubby and there was even a half eaten ice-cream left in the freezer presumably from a previous guest!. The kettle was still full of water. We had to ring and ask for more toilet paper as we were left only a few squares on the roll. The bathroom floor was sticky underfoot and the towels were super scratchy! There is no desk and no wardrobes at all! There were a few satchets of sugar and tea, but no coffee or milk. We did provide feedback to the motel and the staff member who answered the phone thanked me and said that they will pass it onto the Manager. We would never usually stay in this sort of place, but it was booked by my partner’s company as it was the last place that had a room available in Bendigo that night.

My expectations for the Old Crown were super low - after all I had read the reviews. My gripes: - the bed was very hard and uncomfortable - lots of noise late at night and again early in the morning. There was a three or four hour window where it as quiet. We were in a room on the lane side. Perhaps the rooms on the other side are quieter? - No shampoo, hairdyer, wifi or hanging space On the plus side: - The room although small, was perfectly serviceable for a one night stay - Bathroom clean, shower hot - Communication re parking, check in etc was very clear - We snagged a park right out the front Not the worst place I've stayed. If we'd paid $125 a night I would have been satisfied but unfortunately we paid much more than that.

If you are interested in being in a hotel without management around so you can put four or five people into a queen room and party this is for you. The noise of the partying guests in other rooms will be accompanied by the other rap music coming from outside. But never mind if it finishes late because you’ll get to hear at 7.30am on a Sunday morning as well. This was the noisiest hotel we’ve ever stayed at. Didn’t get a minute of sleep. The pillows are past there use by date, mattress ok but firm. Plenty of hot water, which was needed to freshen us up after nil sleep.

The room was not made up at 4.15pm when check in is 4pm. The number on *********** was disconnected and they haven't responded to messages or emails. Totally crap... don't stay there, trying for a refund

Got to my room, had to enter through a side alley way. Once inside there were leaves all over the floor, the sheets and pillow cases were dirty. I booked a Queen room and it was nothing as pictured. Asked for a new room, was sent a new code and new room number, the room had clearly been slept in and not cleaned up, the bed wasn’t even made. When contacting again to advise the room wasn’t made up there was no answer or reply for almost half an hour. I requested a refund and went and stayed elsewhere. Don’t waste your money.

What a waste of money and tortured experience. Travelled to Bendigo with my young daughter. What an awful motel. They charged through the nose for a Saturday night. Should have booked 5 stars in Melbourne for this rate. What a disgrace. Room lacking basic fundamentals. No crockery, 2 mugs and a teaspoon. Literally that’s it. No wine glasses. No robe, no hanging place, no space to leave luggage except on the very limited floor space. Literally 3 teabags - black, green and peppermint. One chair in the place, even though the room was booked for 3 people. No tables. A bar fridge - not sure what they thought you’d put in there? Paper thing walls - kept awake by the poor couple next door arguing about the rip off this motel was. Rowdy crowd leaving the pub at 1am. Lack of customer service - no response. No one on site and no response to queries on the mobile. Single redeeming feature - it was clean. Hopefully some of the cash forked out is getting to the cleaning staff. Apologised to my daughter for taking her to such a place. Will never return.

For the quite high price of a queen room there were no glasses, only two teabags, no hairdryer, no place to hang anything, no tissues. While the bed was comfy and the bathroom adequate we expected a bit more for our buck!!!

Pros - location, location, location - fabulous rainhead shower - good in-room wifi provided - heater worked well - staff responded quickly when i needed pin code Cons - No parking - No hanging space - chair in entranceway (ran into back of it, two steps in to room) - freezer dripping - no shampoo, conditioner & especially no shower cap to protect hair) - no bin in bathroom - really crappy wire office bin in room - dirty, mismatched cups (two - how hard its it to match 2 cups?) - no soap holder in shower - no cover/topper on mattress - had to redo bottom sheet, as it was hanging out - dirty (carpet tile) floors in room and (tiles) in bathroom - difficult to access (pin code) - tiny television screen - cost more than $200 - coffee packet scraps left in dirty holder
