AZIMUT Hotel Cologne

Nice, very specious room but not so clean (old dirt in corners, hairs in bathroom). Very quiet. Asked for a second pillow but had to wait for housekeeping next day. Shower head can benefit from an upgrade. Breakfast was ok. Day old bread, hardly any desert/patries, no green tea).

The gotel is bery clean and modern. It is close to innenstadt. If you come with train from airport, you can get off the train at Haraing station. The hotel is next to station. And the hotel is close to innenstadt with about 12-15 min walk. There are restaurnts around the hotel.

We booked this hotel back in January, when it was called the Azimut Hotel Cologne, for our 2 night April stay. We booked the flexible rate and the tariff description mentioned free breakfast and free upgrade in the superior category. The cost for the 2 nights was €429. One of the main reasons for booking it was the mention in the reviews about its close proximity to the train station. It probably took us 10-15 minutes to walk to/from the train station with our cases. We didn’t like the area the hotel was situated in. Also, the hotel seems to share its building with offices therefore the reception area did not feel like a welcoming, inviting space. We felt the hotel was in need of an update. When we checked in, we were told that our reservation didn’t include breakfast. At that point, I didn’t have my actual copy of the reservation to hand however, once we got to our allocated room, I checked my reservation copy and noted we should have breakfast included plus a free upgrade. When we stopped off at reception to mention this we were told that we had been given an upgraded room. In our opinion, the room didn’t feel like an upgraded superior room but we let that go. (On a positive, the room was big so that could have been what made it an upgraded room. I’m not sure.) The gentleman mentioned that the hotel had been taken over and not all the information had transferred across between the hotel systems. He said he would amend their system to show that breakfast was included. Both mornings, when we went down to breakfast, we were told that we didn’t have breakfast included and we had to explain that we did and they had to ring down to reception to check. (On a positive, although the plates were very small, the breakfast was fine.) Based on the cost, the area the hotel is situated in plus the general feel of the hotel would we book it again or recommend it to friends and family? No. I think there must be far better hotels in better locations for the same price.

The building looks cold and gray, there could be more color to make it cozier. We did the online check-in in advance, which is put in the spotlight on the website, but in the end it turns out that nothing works and the staff knows nothing about it and you still have to check in again the old-fashioned way. when booking it was also stated that we would receive a number of extras, such as a "city bag" (with fruit, water, biscuit, ...) and a map and a discount on parking. the staff knew absolutely nothing about this! eventually we would get that city bag the 2nd day upon our departure, but if we hadn't insisted on it then, we didn't get anything either. we made a reservation for 4 people and this was supposed to be 2 connecting rooms, but we were finally offered a room with 4 beds. the room was very spacious but it was only 2 real beds, the other was an uncomfortable 2 seater sofa bed. it was also way too hot in the room and the pillows were way too flat. no one had slept well!

No on site parking so needed to park in expensive nearby car park. Hotel is in an underwhelming location. Double beds are just 2 singles pushed together so you fall down the gap and beds push apart. Breakfast plates so small that you can't fit anything more than a few items on them which means your small cooked breakfast has to be spread over several plates, this is ridiculous. 600 euros for 3 nights is crazy for this very basic hotel. 30 minutes walk from the old town and not a nice location.

We wanted a comfortable hotel at walking distance of Kulturkirche because we were attending a music show there. Azimut Hotel was a 20 min walk from Kulturkriche and about the same distance to the Dom, so it was perfect for us. The room was huge (#309) and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was OK (with a large choice); breakfast room was very nice (big but still cosy, and silent). Pity that we only noticed the next morning that there was a bar ;-). Parking garage right around the corner, which was really easy. Would stay there again. It is not a "cosy" hotel (no real lobby; more like a business tower) but it suited us just fine.

Just a complete experience, the room was comfortable, the staff was on hand to help with any issues usually my keycard being left in the room, and thank you for allowing me to leave my back after check out that really helped

We had a perfect stay in the AZIMUT Hotel! The service, the cleaning, the location, the beds, the bar(keeper),.. everything was oké. We will come back in an AZIMUT hotel with trust. Thanks very much and keep on going!
