Rosemont Inn Resort B&B

We had our 15th stay at Rosemont Inn this August. Obviously, we love the place, and often come with family. The owners Kerry and Tammy are very fine people, prepare a gourmet breakfast with lot's of extras, and keep the resort very clean and smoothly functioning. The pool is warm and pleasant. The location is excellent--just across from the Douglas Beach. Driving anywhere is easy, short, and most pleasant--lot's of woods, gardens, etc. We see deer everyday, sometimes from the back yard. The locals are not deer fans, since the deer can eat bushes, flowers, etc--but to visitors, they're a special treat. One day we saw 21 deer. Also, the grey squirrels have a melanotic subset ( black all over), and we see them daily. The whole area of Douglas and Saugatuck are excellent. Many good restaurants, quaint shops, people-watching, art galleries; and the river is busy with private boats. Also, there are some nearby good hiking trails, up in the dunes, and also along Lakeshore Drive, from the front yard of the Inn. The location is about 5+ hours from central Illinois, so is much more convenient than the also-beautiful areas far north of Saugatuck. We'll certainly be back next year, health allowing. Try it--you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I were very pleased with our stay. The place is very well kept and clean. We were welcomed with a smile and was given a tour of the place before we checked into our room. Our room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and it had all we needed. Chocolates and water was provided which we thought it was a nice touch. We loved the pool and garden. Bikes were provided and we rode them into town. We also went to the beach across from the Inn. We enjoyed the breeze and sunshine. They served breakfast every morning. The buffet was a variety of delicious foods. The cook outdid himself. They also provided snacks and drinks throughout the day. Homemade cookies were also provided. They have cats and small dogs that are supper cute and friendly. The cats come up to you and if you let them they will sit on your lap. We will definitely return to the Rosemont!

My family recently stayed at the Rosemont Inn. This recent experience was very disappointing. The proprietor, Kerry, was not very pleasant. He did not interact with guests in a welcoming fashion and actually very rude to us regarding the hot tub policy. His demeanor, throughout our stay, made us feel uncomfortable, in an otherwise lovely, historic inn. Other issues were, quality of breakfast when compared to the price per night, was below our expectations; and sadly, the Inn is no longer pet friendly.

Great location in area of private vacation homes and across from small public beach. Rooms are small but with nice features and now entry is by code, so don't have to carry key or card. Well-maintained common spaces, indoors and outdoors, including pool and Asian-type garden. Somewhat put off by host telling us (and every other guest) at check-in that "breakfast is between 8:30 and 9:30 and if you come at 9:29 the selection may not be great," or a pointed sentence to that effect. As it turned out, the buffet breakfast was well-stocked & selection was not a problem, but I don't think current owners are morning people.

We greatly enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Rosemont. Quiet neighborhood and rooms, even during the craziness of a summer Saugatuck weekend. Rooms a bit small, but well appointed and clean. Great breakfast with a lot of variety. We enjoyed the pool and walked across the street to the Douglas Public beach. We booked a lake view room, but shucks, the beautiful leafy trees blocked most of the view of the lake. We’ll just have to walk across the street to watch the sunset. The cats wander the property, mostly outdoors, and are friendly if you are interested in being friendly with them. We’ll be back!

The location and grounds are beautiful, so many extra touches throughout. The pool was heated to 86 degrees! The breakfast buffet daily was excellent, we appreciated the private tables in the breakfast room. We enjoyed our 50th anniversary stay. So much, I would have to write a book if I included all the wonderful things about this Inn. Loved the cats!

Absolutely wonderful place with the best blend of the beach, pool and activities. It is extremely relaxing. The grounds and pool are beautiful and you just walk across the steeet to the beach. It is located in a quaint resort neighborhood. Everyday starts with a delicious breakfast. Tammy and Kerry have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable.

We arrived at 8 PM after a full day of travel with nothing but an envelope left on the front desk with the combinations to the locks on the two rooms booked. As we made our way to locate our rooms we noticed cats everyway, and these are very large cats! My spouse encountered one of the owners, Tammy, on the second floor. Due to a severe cat allergy of mine which has led to respiratory arrest in the past, my wife inquired if the cats go into the rooms, to which she replied "no, but you can just leave, I'm not getting rid of my cats! I'll just give you your money back!" Then her husband so generously added "no we won't!" Maybe he should have inquired before opening his mouth to see if we had paid yet. For those of you who don't know: this is a resort community and there were no other places available, most reservations are made months ahead of time. We had arrived for a wedding. In my attempt to diffuse the situation, I told them it was not about the money, but rather due to my health and my severe allergy to cats, to which she responded I am not talking about this anymore and stormed into her residence. My family and I were in a state of shock. Hoping they were true to their word we proceeded to go to our rooms. Upon entering, we found there was no way to lock one of the rooms, and found a Roomba vacuum protruding from under the bed in the other. We removed the vacuum only to discover filth under the bed. The vacuum was filled of cat hair. The owner's response: "they are not like normal cats; their hair comes off in clumps." Well they did not lie about that as they were very noticeable in many areas of the Inn. The next morning Tammy stated she had a relative that is also allergic to their cats. Unbelievable right?? As we prepared to get some rest, we got in bed only to find the beds had seen better days, the squeaking alone with every movement would wake someone up let alone the discomfort of the mattress. Getting ready in the morning was another joy. Greeted by a disgusting shower curtain that should have been retired years ago, was accompanied by a small sink which appeared to be held together with caulking which was also separated from the wall. The disgusting surroundings were further complimented by the generous serving of towels and washcloths; 2 of each. There was absolutely no maid service and no offer of additional towels. After spending more than couple thousand dollars; there was a reasonable expectation of more towels and washcloths. My child was staying in the room next to ours only to learn that not only did the door not lock, but anyone could simply push the door open. With a makeshift contraption of materials I had, we made her room secure. In short, do yourself a favor and do not stay here. It is not the Rosemont from long ago with an unblemished history.
