Gable House Bed and Breakfast Inn

Staying at the Gable House is not only a historic treat, but the owners Charlie and Tracie make it a memorable treasure! They go out of their way to make every moment special from the exquisite breakfasts to the sharing of the house's colorful past. The rooms are beautiful and each unique with antique furnishings, comfortable beds and even the perfect fluffy towels. I have stayed in most of the various historic hotels in Durango and I can't imagine not staying here anytime we are in town. Don't even look anywhere else!

Let me begin by saying that the hosts are wonderful. They made us feel at home and then we didn't want to leave. They keep the house immaculate and serve delicious breakfasts. We were there two nights and both mornings the breakfasts were appetizing and different each day. The house is gorgeous and the gardens delightful. The beds are super comfortable, and from the linens to the toiletry, everything is first class. And the house is so close to town that you can walk through a beautiful neighborhood. Two days were definitely not enough, so we are already trying to figure out another trip. Thanks Tracie and Charlie for such a fabulous vacation.

The food was the best we have ever had in a bed and breakfast establishment. Tracy and Charlie, the new owners, seem to have a passion for hospitality, and wanted to make sure our needs and wants were met as well as possible. We likely will return to Durango in the future, and the question of where to stay will be a "no brainer." Also, if you want a good location, this is your place. It is in a quiet, attractive neighborhood but close to downtown.

Such a wonderful stay! Tracie and Charlie were the friendliest, most gracious and welcoming hosts and were so caring in making our birthday trip really special. The rooms are comfortable, well-appointed and the claw foot tub in our bathroom was great! Lots of thoughtful little touches throughout. Breakfast was amazing and the entire experience really couldn't be beat. A gem in Durango in a peaceful, beautiful neighborhood!

My wife and I spent 2 nights at this well-kept Victorian bed and breakfast right in the heart of old Durango. The room was comfortable and tastefully decorated with a private modern bathroom. We stayed in the Schutt room which has its own balcony overlooking the beautifully landscaped yard and residential street where we sat both evenings just enjoying the view and cool breeze. Our hosts Tracie and Charlie were super-friendly and accommodating. We told Tracie we planned to leave before breakfast time the first morning to go to Mesa Verde and she left out coffee with a to-go bag of muffins and strata. Later that day, she treated us to cookies and the second morning served a full locally sourced breakfast starting with fresh berries, yogurt and homemade granola followed by eggs benedict and potatoes topped with green and red chili. The Gable house is just 4 blocks away from Durango’s Main Street where you can find local retailers and restaurants. We enjoyed just walking around the neighborhood with the Victorian houses, gardens and mature trees. 5 Stars. Would love to stay there again.

This is a beautifully restored period house with very comfortable beds. The hosts were so welcoming and every touch was thought of. The homemade cookies the second afternoon were a welcome treat after a long hike! Our hostess had plenty of fun suggestions of things to do in the area and great restaurant recommendations. We will definitely be back!

If you are looking for a great B&B in Durango this is the place to go. The old Victorian charm is spot on. The house is beautiful and very clean and comfortable. Tracie and Charlie are amazing inn keepers and go above and beyond to meet your every need. The food is all homeade and fresh, even the granola. We enjoyed our 3 night stay and will definitely be staying here again when in this area.

In June we stayed for the second time at Gable Bed and Breakfast. Last year we were in the Heather Room and this year in the Schutt Room. Both rooms were comfortable, luxurious, and quiet. Tracie and Charlie remembered us, welcomed us with delicious chocolates, and made our stay like being with family. The breakfasts are delicious, and they offered suggestions for wonderful restaurants and places to visit. This beautiful home is within walking distance of downtown and the train station. The Gable House is the BEST bed and breakfast, and we have stayed in several during our travels. Thanks, Tracie and Charlie, for taking such good care of us.

After decades of traveling from one hotel to another, I decided to look for a Bed & Breakfast for my trip to Durango, CO. I found the Gable House B&B and my stay convinced me that B&Bs are the only way to travel. Tracy and Charlie were the perfect hosts - professional, but welcoming and friendly at the same time. the rooms are comfortable and the breakfast was worth of a Michelin rating. If you are visiting Durango, the Gable House is a must! I am already planning a return.
