Hotel Spielmann

Situated on the edge of Erhwald the hotel and garden has lovely views of the mountains. Our room had a nice modern take on traditional Alpine furnishing. However, surprisingly, there was no fridge or coffee/tea tray. For this price there should have been. We did not use the pool but it looked attractive. Service varies, reception could not have been more helpful but it was difficult to get a drink on the terrace. Dinner in the large dinning room was not good. Breakfast was much better, plenty of choice and the omelette bar was excellent - but the ‘orange juice’ was terrible, again for this price it should be fresh orange juice.

I 'discovered' this hotel for an overnight stop when driving out to Greece in 1982, and promised myself that I'd return. 30+ years later we made our first winter trip, and then a second just before the pandemic. We've now returned from our first summer walking break there, and it's as good as ever: the only 'faults' we've raised with them are when children (and their inflatables...) should be allowed in the pool; and, to our taste, the need for white and rose wines by the glass to be better chilled. I won't dwell on the amenities, which you can gauge via their website. Some of the rooms, including ours, have been updated since our last visit. I will mention that the dinner menu, part of the half-board booking, now offers the choice of three different main courses: meat, fish or vegetarian, in addition to a choice of two appetisers and two soups, plus a dessert and cheese. The food overall remains excellent and innovative, eg 'Beeramisu' as a dessert! Th staff are unfailingly helpful, and all seem part of the 'Spielmann family/team'. I could on, but I'll jut close with 'highly recommended': one of my all-time favourite hotels.

I can’t say enough great things about the hotel, the owners, the staff and the area. Everything is perfect and we had a fantastic week exploring the Zugspitze region The hotel is incredible, full of history and charm but very comfortable and all modern appoin**ents are very tasteful. The owners, Martin and Katrina are the nicest people. Martin even picked us up and dropped us back to the train station as it is about a mile from the hotel. Very thoughtful. Lovely staff, very polite and professional. Our room was amazing overlooking the valley to Lermoos. Food was very good, especially enjoyed breakfast The area itself is very beautiful. We hiked for miles with a guide (ask at the hotel for advice about this), took the cable car to the top of the Zugspitze - highly recommended, had e-bike hire as part of our activity pass for the week and cycled out to Bichlbach, which was very pretty We barely heard an English accent all week (a massive bonus) Very highly recommended. We attended Ehrwald to go to a surprise birthday party for family. We had 4 rooms booked at Spielmann Hotel. The receptionist was friendly and gave us all the details of the hotel and walked us to our room. During our 3 nights, all of the staff were friendly and helpful. The dinners were well organized, the chef, kitchen staff and servers put together many different dishes and delivered them to our table of 9 quickly and efficiently. It is the difference between dining and eating. This was dining. The food was great. Breakfast was well stocked including an omelette station and cook. The dinner menu was given to us in the morning to make our choices then. This hotel looks small from the outside but it is not. Restaurant is large in a couple different sections. We made use of the infinity pool which we swam through the sliding automatic doors to the outside section to look at the mountains. There is large sitting area around the pool as well as a sauna. In a different part of the hotel is the other spa area. There are two hotter saunas, steam room , showers and a quiet area. There is a self serve tea station just outside the quiet area. Outside the scenery is magnificent with the mountains and the gardens on site of the hotel. Everywhere was immaculate and well stocked. We used the hotel as a starting point for hiking and heading up to Zugspitze. Once back to the hotel we then relaxed in the pool and spa area until dinner time. We would head back without hesitation.

Na onze eerste ervaring met Hotel Spielmann (in 2017) zijn we reeds een aantal maal terug geweest. Zo ook dit jaar. En net zoals de voorgaande keren was het ook nu weer tip-top. Vriendelijk personeel, heerlijke eten (zowel uitgebreid ontbijtbuffet als diner), heerlijk zwembad met prachtig uitzicht op de omgeving en niet in de laatste plaats een ruime, schone kamer (met wederom een mooi uitzicht op het Wetterstein gebergte). Ehrwald blijft een leuke plaats om te verblijven, de omgeving is uitermate geschikt voor het maken van wandelingen. Met zo'n goed openbaar vervoer kan de auto geparkeerd blijven op de parkeerplaats van het hotel. Tot volgend jaar?!

…erstklassiges Hotel, wir konnten uns in den 10 Tagen vom Alltagsstress erholen- das Essen war jeden Abend das Highlight, die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, sehr gut fanden wir den Sauna & Spa Bereich- die Zimmer waren sehr schön und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, alles in allem: ABSOLUT ZU EMPFEHLEN!!! Danke für die schönen Tage!

Ein Neu-Anbau mit erweitertem Speiseraum gibt dem Essvergnügen eine neue Perspetive im alten Design. Excellentes Frühstück, mit Abendessen. Abendmenue vielleicht etwas zu modern, aber meist sehr gut. Kann dieses Hotel nur empfehlen, auch wenn Sie es mal gelassen nehmen wollen, es gibt genug Platz um sich drinnen oder drausen zu erholen.
