There's no reception, which can be dangerous to live alone. For my experience, stranger knocking on my door hard and constantly around 11:30 pm, which is terrifying!! Police came the other night for unknown reason. As they are checking the monitor, we are asked to wait at the bar and not able to go back to our room for around an hour. Good location though, very convenient for everything.

Excellent location, the property is located right in the city centre, easy to explore the tourist attractions. The room was amazing, very nicely decorated and very clean, providing a different range of complimentary coffee and tea, water. The handwritten welcome note on the bed I found it to be a very nice little touch added to the whole experience. As well, the room was upgraded by the property before the arrival, at no extra cost. I would highly recommend it!

Good location, only a short walk from the station and right in the centre of town. Great selection of beers to try in the bar on arrival. Helpful staff. Stayed on a weeknight after a night out so wasn't bothered by any noise. Our room was a decent size, nice and clean and with facilities to make a decent coffee in the morning - no horrible instant coffee sachets like most places. Our only minor ****** was the bed - it was insanely comfy with lovely pillows but the frame was very squeaky and creaky so it made loads of noise every time either of us moved! Only a minor ****** though and didn't make our stay any less enjoyable.

Good room, with lots of character and a handy en-suite . Amazing central location, pub staff were v friendly. V v old building so lovely low steep stairs up to the room, low doorway, and gorgeously slightly uneven floor. Room did however need more attention on the cleaning, the tiles in the shower had orange/ brown mildew on them, the shower hose had a section that was thick black with gunk… and everywhere was a bit dusty. Sorry to be so explicit but hopefully it’s an easy fix. Excellent tea and coffee provision. Tips to others if booking - the highest up rooms are the quietest, it was a busy Saturday night and we didn’t hear much of it at all. I imagine some rooms will have been noisier.

It’s a historic pub right beside the old Guild hall in the Centre of town. With that comes some street noise but wow… what a location right in the middle - 2 minutes walk from the cathedral green. The owner and staff are really helpful and kind and the place has been recently renovated very nicely. Good showers and comfy beds. 2 small rooms and 3 larger rooms but actually… the smallest room ( no1) is probably the quietest

What a great find ! Right on the high street, a 2 minute walk from the Cathedral. A very old building, I had a beautiful room at the front of the hotel. Very spacious, plenty of room for all my ‘stuff’ with sofa, coffee machine, hairdryer and a large wall mounted TV. The bed was incredibly luxurious and so comfortable. We had a lovely evening in the pub which is part of the hotel and straight upstairs to bed.

Great range of beers that staff are happy to let you taste and give recommendations. A bit like the tardis when you first walk in through the small door to find it it reaches far back and up. Took refuge from the weather a couple of times on this visit to Exeter and as our son is at Uni here I’m sure we will make many more return visits. Didn’t try the food but sure we will do in the future.

Pleasant bar. Service was as you would want. My only gripe is that they allowed double denim wearing in the bar. This killed the experience for me and I have serious concerns about my mental health as a result. Potentially it could be better. On the positive I saw Chris Packham talking to Chris Milgate about birds. I will return most likely, but only if double denim is banned.

Fabulous. Wonderful characterful historic building on the High Street near everything including the Cathedral. Noise levels surprisingly low. The rooms are indeed “comfy” lovely beds and bed linen. Good pillows. Special teabags and a tassimo type coffee maker. Bathroom very modern with a good shower. Loved the bar and beer. Didn’t eat because food had finished by the time we arrived. Would definitely come back
