We went for a ladies who do lunch following good review in the local press. Very disappointing with the service and the food. There was a wake on in the adjoining room and a wedding reception being prepared in the other room. At no time were we made to feel welcome, neither person serving smiled, the scampi was not appealing as overcooked and the sausages were deep fried and not pleasant. Fully understand why table tabs are not available. All in all very disappointing lunch out. Cannot recommend unfortunately. As an aside downstairs was blocked off and wondered if this is a permanent thing and used for guests only but could not find anyone to ask

I chose this establishment as it was quite near to where I was heading for in bath and wanted an overnight stop. A very scenic place with the canal and a weir alongside the place. I had the single bed and shared bathroom which was more than ample for me. A good night's sleep was had and due to my hearing impairment I asked for someone to wake me up at 8am as I can't hear any alarms. Excellent breakfast (photo attached). Had orange juice and tea as well. The licensee, Holly, was very good and assisted me with any queries I had. I would recommend this place if one's going to Bath. Free parking and wifi included but please note that your vehicle needs to be registered in the bar first.

The recently refurbished room overlooking the river was tastefully decorated and comfortable. The cleanliness and presentation was impeccable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Sunday carvery was very good and good value. Upgrading work seemed to be nearing completion in September’23 and did not detract from our enjoyment of the place.

A warm sunny afternoon off exploring led us to Saltford on the A4 between Bristol and Bath. We turned down Norman Road which leads onto Saltford’s old high street. From there we took The Shallows which follows the River Avon downstream back towards Bristol. We were just continuing to explore the area and at this stage we hadn’t, as yet, encountered this Inn. Parking at the Riverside Inn would not have been a problem as, a bit further-on, there is the Inn’s private carpark with an entrance off-of The Shallows. We had parked on the limited on-road parking located just where the river is closest to the The Shallows road. There is also a free off-road carparking area a few metres further-on from where we parked. We walked along the grass verge, past some lovely-looking residential riverside properties and past the Saltford Brass Mill. It was at that point that we saw the Inn. Just past the Brass Mill there is a narrow public footpath from The Shallows that leads to the riverbank and then onto the Inn itself. A pleasant walk (but watch out for the nettles). The Inn is quite extensive offering a considerable number of tables (we saw numbering of over 360). There is a shaded patio area near the rear entrance to the ground floor bar, that overlooks the river and weir. Further-on the public footpath passes a kids patio, and large up-market venue room and outdoor space, ideal for weddings, wakes and birthday celebrations. We back-tracked and ventured inside the ground floor bar; my immediate reaction was, that it was a bit gloomy. I ordered a dry white wine for myself; no wine list available, but the barman offered a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. That is a no: as I have yet to find a Tarapacá offered in any pub; and when drinking Chilean Sauvignon Blanc that is the only one I like. The offer of an Italian Pinot Grigio was far better, and I had a 175ml glass costing circa £7. My Partner wanted an Americano Coffee with hot milk. The request was accepted, but the vending machine didn’t have a button for ‘Americano’. I asked if there was a button for an ‘Expresso’, the barman confirmed it did, so asked him to press that button and then add hot water (a button for which was available on the vending machine). He obviously didn’t know what an Americano Coffee was! Adding hot milk was another ‘no button’ problem: so he kindly went upstairs (presumably to the kitchen) to get some. The coffee was ready at last, but it was practically tasteless and only warm at best. Oh dear, oh dear. We sat outside in the last of the sunshine of the afternoon, and enjoyed some of the views along the river, and the hills of Kelston beyond. By the time we made the 20 minute drive home it was completely clouded-over.

Superb location, room spotlessly clean and lovingly decorated, good bed, nice bathroom, delicious breakfast. The entire property covers a large area and is very well maintained. A good alternative if you want to visit Bath. The bus stop is nearby and the bus runs every 20 minutes.

Lovely location shame about the lack of staff, went there for a drink and some food when arriving we were asked if we had booked a table where we replied no, she said that’s fine just order at the bar, no food served to the park due to the staff shortages which was fine as we were told we can sit in the outback for food. We then went to the bar to order the children food to be told sorry we can’t serve you food if you haven’t prebooked a table, thank you for not advising us of this when we arrived. Poor chap behind the bar was the only oneserving drinks and food so queues are horrendous both up and downstairs, such a shame as the place, as I said is lovely but management really need to address these issues as it’s losing them a lot of custom

Went there with my partner to meet family in the pub garden. Noticed I had to register my partners car in the pub. As not to get a fine for parking. Which I thought I did bought two drinks at the bar with cash sat in garden with family. Bought another drink for the family using cash. Today the 6th of April I get a fine fron parking Eye for 100 pounds. For not registering the car. Which I thought I did. As you do not get no print out to put in the car. I rang the Riverside pub asking for there help. Which was a waste of time. As I payed by cash and I can't remember what we all had to drink. They said there is nothing they can do. We were all going to book a Carvery meal for this Sunday. But we won't be doing that now. In case I get another 100 pound fine. And will never go here again.

I booked this place based the distance from the university, which is less than 5 minutes drive. The staff and the food were absolutely fantastic. The area is absolutely stunning. The room was well presented and equipped with hair dryer, iron and ironing board, additional heater, sanitiser, tea, coffee, fridge (stocked with water and milk), smart tv, WiFi access, additional blankets and fan, even an umbrella. The room was clean and the bed was really comfy. I would have given 5 stars however the rooms are units that are accessed is via outside, which is not a problem but we drove in the evening to Bath and when we arrived back the path by the river was dark and we had to use the torch on our phones. The public bar closed at 9pm, I believe later at weekends. Maybe this was due to the time of year we went. On *********** it says checkin is till 10pm, I’m not sure how you would check-in, if the bar was closed. We would definitely stay again. Like I said the staff were lovely and couldn’t help enough. Faith was very helpful. You had the impression the team was a family that cared about what they did.

Mother’s Day booked for 2.30pm. Was a sunny day so arrived 2pm. We were refused to go in the building (with an elderly disabled man) and refused to be served a drink saying we had to wait outside til the mass 2.30pm booking with lots of people in the same position in the car park. There were people walking along the river popping in for drinks and all were rejected they were all saying how bad this was and wouldn’t return. 2. 30pm was like queuing for school dinners we all had to go in at the same time so the queuing for food was ridiculous. Food was definitely not great a roast and a pudding for £17.95 was very poor quality with extremely bland cauliflower cheese and creamed leeks, potatoes reheated. After leaving at the allocated slot we were then refused a drink to sit in the sun being told you need to be sat at the table to get a drink (hello?, you asked us to move for the next mass sitting). Lord alone knows why this was done as carveries like redwood and winterbourne farm and henbury car very to name but a few all cope splendidly without this ridiculous system as people come and go with a steady flow and you don’t have to sit at a table to be waited on for drinks. In short awful food and awful management it’s the only pub I know that is happy to lose money by refusing to serve beer. Wish I had listened to locals who give it a thumbs down.
