Just got back from a week here and think that the reviews are not for the same hotel we stayed it, no way is it a four star. We were in Madeira a few years ago and stayed at the Alta Lido down the road and it was far far better. Lifts take ages. Rooms have a bad layout. Plug sockets in the wrong places to use. Liquid spatters down the walls. Toilet constantly trickled like it was filling up. Plug did not keep water in the sink. Shower screen did not fit so water leaked under it. Towels were old, well used and a couple had holes in. Pillows were lumpy and filled with squeaky cotton wool balls. Can feel all the springs in the beds. No drawers in the bedroom, just two shelf like things so no storage. TV remote had to be sanitized before touching. View from balcony was people in the next block. Went B&B so only tried the breakfast but that wasn't up to much so we ate out a few times. The restaurant at night never looked busy and I pitied the ones on all-inclusive that felt they had to eat there. We e-mailed them a question, to two e-mail addresses, and chased another four times. Didn't get a response or even an acknowledgement which should have been a sign. Madeira is a great place and we will be back. There are plenty of nice place to eat nearby. We would never return to this place and absolutely do not recommend it.

Found the hotel great all-inclusive value. Buffet food was excellent with plenty choice (hot and cold menu). Found the waiter staff helpful, friendly and attentive. Hotel amenities good - spa, pools, bars, etc. OK, it's not the Ritz, but for value for money and on the doorstep for transport into Funchal central (can walk in 20 mins), it's would be hard to beat. Only downside was the entertainment at night, but with other nightlife venues a short walk away, this didn't present a problem. Room cleaned every day. Hotel staff friendly and courteous.

This did not live up to expectations. Stayed B&B, breakfast could have been better. Unsure what they class as bacon, on some days this was the same colour and taste as the sausage, Just in a compressed form. We chose to eat out mostly. The reception area always smelt lovely due to the huge plug in airfrestners. The fridge is very small.(and there is room for a bigger fridge) So don’t buy more than 1 big bottle of water as you have to lay it down on the shelf to get it in. They could utilise the space a whole lot better. You have a kettle and cups. That’s it. No coffee or tea, not even on your 1st day. Unable to fill sink as it didn’t close. The lever was missing. The shower head gushed water down the hose, rendering it not very powerful, the bath is very narrow and there is a SOS pull cord above. Assuming incase you get stuck. . Water was hot on a plus point. No extractor fan in the bathroom, which is in the bedroom Towels were changed and often had holes in. Bedding was worn with holes also appearing. Maybe good to invest in better toilet roll too. Walls need a clean and around switches. The tv remote need to be sanitised. The safe is like something from the 60’s a total faff having to somehow wriggle it to get the full barrel out. They need updating to digital. Hopefully you will not be given a room like ours where your view is directly in to the next hotel bedrooms so you constantly have to keep the net drawn for privacy. You can feel the hard springs through the mattress. And the draws in the lounge area are shallow and narrow. So don’t expect to get much in them. We had 6 coat hangers in total. There are 2 small lifts for about 11 floors. And they say 6 ppl. At best you can get 4 in, you do find yourself stood waiting a while . So overall this was not a hotel we would go back to. Not sure how this hotel got 4 stars.

We love Madeira and have stayed at this hotel twice this year , because the staff are friendly and the rooms although basic are comfortable.. We found the pillows to soft which caused neck pain, but all in all we would recommend staying here .. thank you again for a lovely stay 😊👍🏻

We can’t fault this hotel. We went for 2 weeks bed and breakfast with Jet2 and it was amazing value. We would have paid far more for b and b in the UK and that doesn’t include a flight! The rooms were clean and there was a large balcony. In the room there were 4 small bottles of water in the fridge and a bowl of fruit. The rooms were cleaned daily and the towels were changed as often as you wished. The breakfasts were fantastic and we never needed lunch as it kept us going all day. Everything you could think of was available and was continually being replenished. There were plenty of staff and the tables were cleared promptly. We only had breakfast so can’t really comment on the food the rest of the time. All we can say was that there were people around the pool on AI and it certainly all looked good. We had a couple of beers around the pool which was reasonably priced. There were plenty of sun beds and pool towels were available. No bed reserving which is great and it didn’t matter what time of day you went to the pool you could be certain of getting one. This hotel was in a perfect location for us as we like the walk into Funchal and we will definitely be returning next year.
