Eslington Villa

We've stayed here a few times over the years but this stay in particular was excellent. The room was lovely, the bathroom fabulous. The staff are lovely. We ate in the restaurant for the first time ... the food was excellent and the service was first class. They made it feel like a special occasion. We have relatives living nearby and will definitely stay again.

Nice location and tradition hotel, but WAY overpriced. Food is just good nothing special but at £25.00 for two basic courses. Well list for words. The night before I stayed just around the corner at the premier inn and far better value. Suggest you try elsewhere.

First takeout Sunday Lunch of 2024 and it was lovely. Already counting the days to this weekend for the next one. We can’t get enough of the gravy. Delicious Staff are great. Very friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious

We stayed in the poplar room we arrived just before 3pm for check in a warm welcome and nice cosy reception and bar we went up to the room 1st thing I noticed was a lovely bathroom then we noticed staines on the carpet looks from tea bags or coffee we then seen the cracks in the wall behind the TV and right across the ceiling bed was very uncomfortable wallpaper ripped and stuck back down tea and coffee facilities available 1 bath sheet each 1 hand towel between 2 of us and only 1 dressing gown for 2 of us?? Throught the afternoon we could hear children runing up and down in the apar**ent above our room which was annoying on the evening we went for the even meal sat in the bar was approached by a lady who took our order we were then sat at our table with half a bottle of champagne which was not even opened and not very nice I had the soup to start which was nice but heavily seasoned with salt I had the rump steak which I asked for pink and it was however the steak wasn't seasoned and was served with half a grilled tomato garnish and what tasted and looked like McDonald's French fries heavily salted I then had the sticky toffee pudding was told it was a great choice when I tasted it I could tell it was not home made definitely shop bought and not pleasant to eat I left most of it I felt the hole meal was rushed no sooner had the starter finished we had our main meal served with in 2 minutes no time to digest the lady who took our order seemed to keep watching and waiting to remove our plates the who 3 courses we had were finished in 50 minutes and the quality was something I'd say was nothing like the images on the website we went back to the room and went to sleep around 10:30pm then at 11pm someone set the fire alarm off which woke us up and took ages to get back to sleep the bed was a normal double very small and horrible thin mattress after a terrible night's sleep we went down for breakfast we were greeted and offered a table we were asked what we wanted to drink we both asked for cappuccino to which the lady said sorry we don't do that on a morning plus I don't know how to use the machine we had coffee instead and left to decide to eat me and me and my partner were so disgusted with the stay we decided to make our excuses and check out please avoid this hotel at all costs it's definetly not 3 star hotel 2 star at best and the stickers in the front window showing awards are from 2018 nothing recent you would be better staying at Premier Inn and have a nicer room we definitely won't be back nor recommend to family and friends

I'm touring the country this week with a packed work diary, and so it's such a joy to be greeted by name as you enter the door of a hotel you've never visited before. What a gem of a rare find , true hospitality, 5 star service, excellent food, warm a**osphere and attention to detail. The setting is charming and peaceful and the staff are so welcoming, friendly and polite. The main building is cosy and homely and instantly gives the feeling of warmth and comfort. We were staying in a room that was accessed through an external door next to the carpark. The room was fine and was clean. The beds were comfortable and there were nice touches such as teas, coffees, bottled water etc. I do, however, feel the room is due a lick of paint and seemed a bit worn out in places. The bathroom was adequate but again it seems like it needs a revamp and it felt almost damp. The breakfasts are served between 730am - 10am and are plentiful and tasty. All in all I would return here but I would probably ask for another room next time, in the hope that it had been more recently renovated.

My partner was running the Great North Run and obviously getting a hotel in Newcastle is not easy or cheap. So we ended up here and thank goodness we did. The villa is in a lovely area - a ten minute walk uphill to a great main street - and the venue itself is superb. Clean, cool an with a frendly welcome. My parents were down - they stayed elsewhere on the Saturday - and came over for dinner which was excellent. The menu was a bit different and delicous. Top marks. Breakfast on both mornings was superb. Lots of fruit, cereal, tea and coffee, plus perfect poached eggs. Now here is the important thing. My folk were due to drive up to Scotland on the Sunday after the race. But because of the heavy rain and a two hour wait on a bus, they decided staying put was fo the best. We phone the hotel and despite there having been a bit of a disaster in the kitchen that day, and the last thing they needed was more guests, they found them a bed. Really classy. Our stay cost a little over £100 a night including that superb breakfast. The bed was fantastic, room spotless and a great shower. I lived in Newcastle foe three years so know that fantastic city well. Sure, staying in the centre can be fun and easy, but I cannot recomment this place enough. There are enough buses going into town and Gateshead metro is a coupe of minutes drive or a short taxi ride. I cannot recommend Eslington Villa highly enough.

I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay here. I loved the hotel – very comfortable room – and the grounds are lovely (a perfect place to read a book on a sunny afternoon). A special shout-out to two members of staff in particular who were excellent. Sorry I don't know either of your names – but thank you to the lady with the long blond straight hair and the lovely freckles, who was very helpful and welcoming, and the dark-haired gentleman who works in the bar/kitchen/restaurant who was also excellent. The food was delicious, but if you're a vegetarian don't expect to be able to have a choice at dinner. There didn't seem to be any vegan options. The service was very good and my friends enjoyed their meals. There is a train line running near the bottom of the grounds, but the noise is not particularly intrusive. Some of the bedrooms have a lovely view overlooking the grounds; my room was at the side of the hotel which meant I didn't get the view, but it stayed nice and cool on a very hot week, not having been in direct sunshine all day. The beautiful Saltwell Park is within very easy walking distance, and the Angel of the North is also walkable from the hotel (though it isn't a particularly nice walk as it is along busy A roads), but there are frequent buses available (once you've climbed the steep hill to Durham Road). I would definitely recommend Eslington Villa and I was very comfortable staying there as a solo traveller. I'm so glad I chose this hotel, as opposed to staying in a larger hotel in Newcastle city centre. At Eslington Villa the rooms are all named after trees – so much nicer than just having a number! And the excellent staff and service really made my stay.

Stayed overnight for our wedding anniversary. The elegant bedroom overlooked the extensive gardens - had a beautiful bathroom with a large wet room. We had a warm welcome with half a bottle of champagne. The menu was varied and the food excellent. The service was as ever professional but friendly as we expect from Thierry and Tony. We will be back.
