The Old Inn

Just an overnight stay but such a friendly welcome! Despite the freezing temperatures outside, our room was warm and cosy. Wonderful breakfast cooked to order - will definitely return.

We were staying in a nearby cottage and enjoyed a wonderful meal here The menu is standard with two or three specials, but good value The staff are welcoming and efficient I had the fish and chips and my wife had the steak pie with vegetables all very well cooked

Perfect village pub slightly off the main road. A lovely welcoming atmosphere and nice mix of regulars and visitors. The menu was excellent with a range of specials to supplement the traditional menu, quick turnaround and really friendly and attentive staff. An absolute gem. Definitely one to come back to.

We felt as if we were intruding. Landlord wanted us to order lunch as soon as we arrived. This was because he wanted to close early! No respect for his customers whatsoever. Food was awful - slimy ham from a packet, undercooked chips from the freezer. Asked us to shut the gate on our way out, he couldn't get rid of us quick enough!

We enjoyed a lovely evening meal in this cosy local pub. The landlord and staff were very friendly and you noticed that the locals liked it a lot as well. The food was very tasty and my fish and chips was succulent and the best I had since a long time.

Wonderful evening meal in this village pub. Excellent menu with some good specials. All the staff very friendly and helpful. Stayed nearby and will definitely come back next time we are in the area.

We stayed at the Hawkchurch Resort near the village and visited the Old Inn twice, once for dinner and once for Sunday lunch. The food and service are excellent, highly recommended all round. We had Fish and Chips and Burgers on our first visit and Roast Beef and Roast Pork on our second. 8 clear plates says it all and make sure you leave room for dessert!

What a gem of a place! Best roast beef ever! Excellent service.Such a friendly place too.Everyone bent over backwards for my grandchildren,this place made our family Easter break! Can’t wait to go back in November for another family meal when we visit Hawkchurch.Well done everyone at The old inn!

Four of us booked a table for a meal. On arrival it was difficult to find a table that was in a warm part of the pub and away from the television, even though we were the only people there. We settled for a table away from the door but close to the television on the wall which remained on throughout our meal with the sound turned down. My friend and I chose the chicken supreme which was disappointing. The vegetables were undercooked and hard and the chicken was cooked on the outside but raw in the middle. We sent it back and it was clearly just put under the grill for a bit as the vegetables came back hard and burnt. At £22 we felt this was not value for money. The other two meals were okay but also pricey.
