The Knighton Hotel

Fiasco at check in when it turned out our room had been given to someone else and they couldn't decide if we needed to pay any extra!!! I think not, your mistake not mine! Finally checked in to our deluxe room. I assume deluxe meant we had a bed.... A very tired room with basic furnishings. Spare pillows but no pillow cases. Bin hadn't been emptied from previous residents and the carpet not properly cleaned. Found hair grips etc. Bathroom looked very impressive with a large P shaped jacuzzi bath. But that didn't actually work. I don't think we'll be rushing back

On arrival a lovely welcome was given by the friendly lady at reception. Rooms were clean, comfortable and very warm. Kitchen facilities available for guests to prepare their own meals. Can't fault the place, especially for the price. The beautiful wooden double staircase and landings are a particularly nice feature of this establishment.

Paid £80 for this disaster of a night. Was listed to have a Hot tub, no hot tub to be found. No explanation apart from that it’s not in use or has never worked Room was worn and stunk of urine or maybe warm plastic? No toiletries were in sight or hand soap replenished so had to buy from grocery shop across the street Toilet roll not reloaded so had to settle for some on the floor by the broken towel radiator in the bathroom. 1st floor drum n bass rave in full effect with residents shouting over music. As this was supposed to be a treat for my girlfriend’s birthday and the fact we had traveled well over 2 hours each way has to put it mildly, made me absolutely furious This simply, is not good enough Such a shame that the management will not see this as an ever-present ongoing issue I have Referred to AirBnB ➕

Greeted as soon as we got there by reception whom were all incredibly nice and friendly. Booked a room for one night that was pretty huge and absolutely what we want out of a hotel. Picturesque views from the room and a great view from the window. Dog friendly at no extra cost which is very decent as the price is incredibly reasonable for what you get. And the most largest comfiest bed that could fit a whole family in it. Would definitely recommend if you are thinking of staying here And to the staff we had a lovely lovely time so thank you (:

Clearly this is a place with a past; there is a grand wooden staircase that dominates the reception area. There are lots of lounge and restaurants that used to be in service but are currently not open for buying food. You can sit in the lounge if you’re waiting for your room. I think they are trying to upgrade the spaces; they’re just not there yet. That being said, we had a fine room which had a very recently updated bathroom. The towels are large and there’s coffee/tea service available in your room (instant coffee that is). The one negative is that the lift doesn’t work and we had to make it upstairs (the grand wooden one) to our room with luggage. The place has potential.

The pay and display machine in rhe car park didn't work and Powys council won't believe you when they issue a parking fine. They practically acused me of lying . Several of us got fined cause none of us could get the machine to accept any form of payment.

Minimal service but clean bed and renovated bathroom. A sense of faded grandeur with mysterious unused function rooms which might be off putting or charming depending on your tastes. For 70 quid in august, booked at the last minute, it was fine. No breakfast but this was advertised.

1 nights stay for work purposes. On arrival at around 7pm we found no members of staff present (web site and signage state reception available up to 9pm). After a frustrating phone call to a number on the door we finally got our keys. The accommodation was booked through our HR using ***********. The hotel representative on the other end of the line was requesting we fill in rental agreement contracts in order to obtain keys (bizarre). The room was adequate at best. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a bed without a headboard. En-suite is a wet room without a shower curtain (good idea to remove the toilet roll out of the room prior to showering) Room facilities are poor. The restaurant and bar were in darkness so no chance of a meal. I’d describe the place as more like an Air B&B or hostel and therefore it would be prudent to lower your expectations prior to arrival.
