Bellos Hotel Apartments

The best holiday so far, every night there were things to do in the bar that got everyone involved and socialising. Stayed for 2 weeks and never had a bad meal - the buffet always had different variety of yummy food. The menu catered to everyone for food from Greek food, sea food and typical British food, even German food. Mainly saw the night staff and got on really well with them all, always having a laugh and sharing interesting stories with them. They are all so friendly and made sure our holiday was always at a high standard. The rooms were perfect for us with self catering, the cleaners always made sure everything was fresh and never rushed us out of the room and would come back later to clean if we weren’t up yet. Lovely little balcony that I could watch over the apartments and relax. The pools were always clean and fresh, the water slides were fun! They also had baby pools with a sprinkling mushroom which was sweet. Plenty of space to sun bathe with plenty of deck chairs. Easy access to the main ***** with a taxi rank 5 mins away. Over all I will be visiting regularly for my vacations and couldn’t see myself going else where!

Absolutely amazing, not a bad word to say about it, all the staff are so friendly and lovely, they’re really helpful and care about their guests, there was always entertainment each night which got everyone socialising and having a good laugh together. The rooms were always clean and tidy house keeping were amazing at their job. We never had a bad meal there the food was amazing and really tasty. I would definitely recommend going back here, best 2 weeks holiday.

We spent 12 nights at Bellos and can say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is situated halfway between Hessonissos and Piskopiano village (about 10-15 mins walk either side) which is uphill so you will need to factor that in. I am convinced that I have been able to tone my calves in my short stay here! Something to note however is that when you reach the entrance of Bellos, you will have to decend a pretty steep slope to get to the reception (where the restaurant is) so bear that in mind if you have just arrived with your luggage. There is a railing to help with this. The room we stayed at was one of the recently refurbished rooms and although basic, met our needs adequately and we’re clean. We went self catering and used the cooking hobs provided without any real issue. I can see from other reviews that they had some issues with noise but I can’t say that we did. We did however put a request in for a quiet room way back when we first booked. Whether that was factored in and resulted in us getting the room we did (near to the entrance of the hotel and away from the restaurant) your guess is as good as mine but perhaps something to consider if you are a sensitive sleeper) We chose to get both the air conditioning (we recommend this) and personal safe which cost a total of 120 euros across 12 nights - so about 10 euros / night for both. Something to keep in mind. Bellos offers a good range of drinks of varying prices. The house beer and wine are cheap (at least compared to other Greek Islands I’ve been to and the U.K.!) although the cost of spirits does seem a bit more expensive. Softs are probably considered standard to slightly expensive. The restaurant was fine - offering the usual items you’d expect (Italian, grill, burgers etc.,) plus the local cuisine and some seafood options such as swordfish steak. Their pizzas are nice and come with a lot of cheese and certainly better than your U.K. takeaway pizzas! Price wise, it’s similar to the U.K. There used to be a supermarket on site but this has since closed down so the nearest supermarket is either downhill in Herssonissos (Greek Supermarket) or uphill in Piskopiano (Spar store). A taxi from the Greek supermarket to Bellos is (in our opinion) expensive at the cost of 9 euros for less than 2 minute drive. The hotel comes with several pools, 2 by the restaurant where there is a grass area for sunbathing and has an outside bar. We did not make use of this part so cannot comment further other than that it was popular. There is also the pool area with slides just meters further downhill. We made extensive use of the pool with slides and never had any real issues with beds. If the laid out beds were in use, there were always some spares stacked at the back for us to pull out and set up. You may however not get an umbrella. Brilliant little hotel. Very clean - staff super friendly. Would highly recommend and if we did visit Crete again would definitely come back. Food same price as the Uk. We had a studio that slept 2 adults and a 16 year old that was 6 ft 3. Air con is an additional charge but we’ll worth it in July when temperatures were well into the 30s. My son who is usually very grumpy loved the hotel and even participated in the Greek dancing 😂

We have just returned from a week at Bellos. On arrival, we were initially disappointed as the apartment was not like the pictures on Jet2.com but after speaking to staff, we were moved to a nicer apartment the following day. Apartments are clean but basic cooking facilities as we had expected from the description. The location is picturesque, however a little isolated. Hersonissos and the local village are a 15 minute walk away so we often got taxis, especially at night. It would have been useful to have a small shop on site for some basic neccessities or some bottled water on arrival in our room. Staff were friendly. Facilities on the complex were clean and well maintained. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would probably not return as a more convenient location would have suited us better.

The hotel was as described and worked well for what we needed — essentially a place to sleep. The bar was good, rooms and location fine. Staff were friendly. Car parking was not a problem. We didn’t really make much use of the hotel facilities otherwise as we were mostly travelling around visiting sites and enjoyed the local restaurants and beaches — many within about 30 minutes walk.

Just returned from a 7 night stay at the Bellos as a family, two adults, an older child and a younger child.  Initial impressions of the room were broadly favourable in terms of overall layout in our one bedroom apartment. Although as I think others have mentioned the bathroom is on the small side. It's very small.  In fact, as I look at other reviews and pictures I'm somewhat disappointed.The shower in particular is rather cramped. If you were of the larger body size, I imagine you might struggle somewhat.  We were in room 102 and as well as cramped, the shower head and wand were in real need of attention. I do wonder if this is because we were hitting at the end of the season and I'd like to think that over the winter there'll be maintenance to clean up or replace these items. As an initial impression, it was a tad disappointing.  However, despite this I'm definitely giving a 5/5 review because overall we loved our stay. The staff are lovely. So friendly and whilst unfortunately I don't know their names, the lady and gentleman who work the main restaurant/ bar during the daytime particularly stand out. This in no means is meant to detract from any of the other staff. Everyone is really really friendly and very helpful.  Drinks prices are reasonable compared to the surrounding areas. Not particularly cheaper but certainly not more expensive. Food was a good standard and in particular whilst at first we weren't going to participate, we did actually attend the Saturday night Greek BBQ and it was excellent. Plenty of excellent food and the entertainment was fun with some audience participation.  The BBQ started at 7 and was wound up by around about a half past 9. If I want to give one tiny bit of feedback it might be that after it's ended, maybe a quiz for later would be a good idea to keep people on site. There are plenty of quizzes etc through the week though, usually starting at 10pm. Location wise, it's about a 20 minute walk at most down to the beach/sea area and maybe 10-15 minutes up a fairly steep hill to the villages. The first village of Piskopiano is great; a lot of nice bars and restaurants and you can turn right to old Hersonissos or left to Koutoulafari (spelling?). Both were excellent and even at this time of year they were still plenty open.  If you didn't want to venture out on a given day, there are two excellent pool areas, the upper area with a lovely grassy area around the pool and then the lower area where the slides for the kids. Both areas are served by a snack bar / restaurant.  There's also a small kids play area which is handy. It really is a lovely hotel with lovely grounds, flowers and trees; lime trees, lemon trees, grapevines on some of the balconies.  I'd definitely visit again. Thanks for a brilliant holiday.

The hotel is nice and clean, cannot fault the cleaning staff at all. The room is a basic set up but for us it worked fine as we planned on sleeping, showering, etc. Fridge with a small freezer compartment was handy. Kettle, toaster basic amenities were provided. Double bed was comfortable and clean. balcony was small but enough for 2 people with a table and 3 chairs and also an airer (which was incredibly handy). We booked Bed and Breakfast for the 2 weeks but sadly only ate there 3 times as the breakfast wasn't really what we enjoyed and wasn't very filling for us. The choices were the same every time we ate there, and I must say slightly disappointing. I didn't find the food warm let alone hot. Some people liked it. everyone is different, but it wasn't for us at all. The hotel overall seemed clean and tidy from what we seen, but we didn't spend a lot of time there as we were off out exploring. Cats are around so if your allergic or not fussed, beware, but most seem friendly. There is a steep incline from the bottom of the hotel to the top, again beware. Seems safe though, don't know about when it rains etc., more care would need to be taken. Plenty of places to explore around, loads of restaurants, shops, supermarkets. TIPS: Download an app called Get Your Guide for loads of trips in the area. This app can be used anywhere in the world. Also, at night when walking around take a little pocket torch or your phone for the torch. Some parts have no lighting so just to stay safe. Plenty of taxis to take you wherever but we never used them. The exercise was good up and down the hill, but again it is steep.
