Falkenstein Grand, Autograph Collection

Falkenstein Grand is part of Marriott's autograph collection and tucked away in the Taunus mountains outside Frankfurt. It is about a 30-minute drive from the airport, FRA. The hotel is on the mountain slope in the village of Köningstein. The lobby area is in the main building out of the seven that makes up the hotel, and the other buildings are connected with underground tunnels unless you fancy a walk outside. There is also the bar and restaurant in the main building. The hotel has a full service spa with a nice array of treatments and a good size gym as well as an outdoor heated pool. The rooms are big but modern and the size and decor bring to life the turn of the century when the hotel was built. Both service and food are excellent, and whilst a little of the beaten track, it is well worth a detour for a few days relaxation.

I stayed in the hotel because my company hosted a meeting here. I was here for 6 nights and experienced a lot of what the hotel offered and overall really liked the hotel. My room was located in the main building (building 4) and was large and newly renovated. The weather was very very unseasonably warm the week I was there and there is limited to no air conditioning in the hotel and other facilities. I was told my room didn’t have AC but it was cool and comfortable. Beds and linens were super comfortable. I enjoyed the included breakfast buffet. Something for everyone and very well done. The views from the outside patio was beautiful. Lunch that was offered in the restaurant was also delicious. Our meeting at the hotel was also generally good. None of the meeting rooms in the main hotel building had AC. Our meetings were in the Ascara Spa building and those were newer. Alexandra from the front desk was outstanding. She was gracious about my lack of German and had great recommendations for restaurants and was very kind and helpful. Thanks to the entire staff for a wonderful experience.

This is a heritage property with beautiful landscaping and well appointed rooms with contemporary comforts. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only downside is that there is no air conditioning and neither any fans which makes the room uncomfortable when the temperature goes above 24 degrees, which is now very common across Europe.

Truly a fine hotel with generous hospitality and space. Very friendly and cooperative team members that are willing to extend friendly solutions at even odd hours of the night. Loved my suite and the view of Frankfurt city was breathtaking! Definitely want to visit again for an extended stay.

This is a beautiful, scenic hotel. We stayed in a large suite that had been redone with a kitchenette, bathroom, HUGE living room, office and master bedroom. The restaurant was quite good and everyone who worked there very nice! There is an amazing playground for kids and a beautiful terrace to sit on and watch them. Our room smelled a bit like paint (it truly was brand new) but we aired it out and it was great. The pool and hot tub were fun (although this is definitely a wellness retreat, so be respectful) and the grounds are really beautiful. Two of us did the 3 castles hike from the hotel, but other than that, there isn’t much to easily walk to.

This is an outdated property in urgent need of modernisation. My room was very pokey and the bed uncomfortable. Also very warm - only way to cool it was to open the window. The staff are slow and not very helpful - one forgot to order a taxi for me, for example, and check in was very slow. Food is at best average.

It was a short stay - we had a gorgeous suite with a stunning view of Frankfurt. We arrived early enough to enjoy the SPA facilities and later dinner in their restaurant. Great choice of food, wines, the breakfast spread was absolutely A-1 and we found the service very friendly/efficient. The property is big with plenty of walkways to get lost in. We really hope we can visit the hotel again for a longer stay.

Stayed in the main house on the penthouse floor. Nice room, great view. The other ‘houses’ can be reached via outside or by underground tunnels. My room was spacious, with kettle and coffee maker. Overpriced mini-bar, but that is expected. Nice bathroom with shower. Walk-in wardrobe with safe. The hotel is close to being 5+ star. No real valet service and not really close parking. Restaurant has a lot of atmosphere, great views, great staff but very limited menu. Meals on the room service menu (smaller bites like club sandwich) are not available in the restaurant. The kids menu has a wide range of choices.,If the food menu was as good as the wine menu, it would be great. Great German wines, sometimes quite pricey. A bottle of water is € 10.90. Small things could be improved. The bathroom bin was not emptied after the first night, choice of coffee changed, milk not filled up. Small things but for the price you pay you expect perfection. Breakfast is superb (staff could have a smile on their face). Nothing much to wish for. Great surroundings and gardens.

This was our favorite hotel on our trip to Germany and the Alsace Lorraine area in France. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, starting with the check in by Sacha, who was wonderful, and we appreciated his thoughtfulness for arranging a lovely surprise for us, once he found out that we had just celebrated a wedding anniversary. Thank you Michelle for giving us such a beautiful room with it's balcony, outdoor seating and the double set of french doors. The view of the mountains, park and trees was gorgeous. The room itself was luxurious and lovely in it's relaxing shades of green and blues. The king bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was large with a touch shower. There were thoughtful touches like the the yoga mat (sealed in plastic), the iron and ironing board, an umbrella, and ample storage in the room. The number of chairs and tables scatted around the large room were very convenient. On vacation we love breakfast in bed, and not have to rush in the morning downstairs for breakfast was really appreciated, especially with jet lag. The room service breakfast was delicious and delivered to our room by a wonderful young woman. Our meal in the restaurant was very good. The restaurant is run by a delightful man, and his staff, especially Cora were excellent. The menu had some good choices. We want to thank Sebastian for his professionalism, politeness and efficiency for dealing with any requests we had. Our luggage was carried to our car by Keywan, who would bring a smile to anyone's day, with his wonderful personality. He was very helpful and hard working. We will be switching from Schloss Kronberg, where we used to stay in the Frankfurt area to Falkenstein Grand hotel from now on. Not only does the Falkenstein Grand have more facilities ( the beautiful spa, hiking trails etc), but we also preferred the staff here more than the staff at Kronberg. This is definitely going to be our new hotel in the Frankfurt area. Highly recommend it.
