The Continental Hotel, Derby

Exterier is amazing, reception, bar, restaurant very classy, but things change, once you open your bedroom door, you think ***, stained carpet, furniture badly chipped, bathroom door badly damaged, pillows are bad, mattress springs poking through, clean kettle tho and cups, plenty of coffee & milk, parking um we arrived at 4, big carpark, but no spots, so went to receptionist, said there was a party on, but can park up after 6, as be quiet then, was not happy at all, so had to park, a good 15 mins walk away, in a very undesirable area, the place round, hotel not pleasant, woulldnt walk around when dark, but only 20 mins into main area, were there is a wetherspoons, and a cosmo restaurant, all you can eat, amazing top quality food, must book tho, as sat gets very busy, back at hotel, quiet room, slept ok, got up at 8.00 for breakfast, which must admit was amazing, choice of hot & continental, fresh orange juice, lovely coffee from machine, good choice, of latte, cappichino, etc etc, very clean dining room, and food area, over all had a good stay, for £61 for 2 adults, with breakfast, is amazing, bad point lift still broken, so when you book, tell them you need lower floors x

Lovely reception and nice greeting. But no lift wife was disabled ♿ room was so dull, most lights did not work, bed rock hard, generator outside window, it's a very poor budget hotel mostly for working people, don't book as a family or a cosy weekend. We stayed for 20 mins, went back home, so disappointed. Maybe if the lift worked and the lights we might have stayed for breakfast. Never again.

Was really not happy with my stay. The room was so hot with no aircon. The rooms are old and felt rundown. There are no plug points anywhere near the bed which is a huge inconvenience. The shower felt very small and cramped. The lift didn’t work. The bed was uncomfortable. I stayed at the travel lodge a week before at pretty much the same cost and it was ten time better. Would not recommend the continental hotel to anyone.

Terrible place to stay. No lift working had to haul gear up to 3rd floor. No electrical safety checks on equipment in rooms for 3 years. Fire extinguishers not in place. Fire escape routes blocked with items. Filth in fan, mould all ceiling in bathroom and rusty shower curtain pole, no riser rail to use a shower. The carpets don’t even fit. Do not stay here.

Comfortable and clean room, overall very good value for money with a discount in the restaurant (delicious eving meal there). On the downside the lifts weren't working and signage to the 3rd floor for my room was unclear. Check in advance if you have mobility issues. The shower in the ensuite had very low pressure and was either boiling hot or tepid - the regulator did not seem to work, so that would benefit from being looked at. Staff on arrival were friendly and helpful but the following morning I was not shown where the breakfast room was initially (hidden around a corner) and the Full English was clearly precooked and a bit dry. For simple value accommodation within walking disyof the town centre, I would recommend this hotel but even better if they can improve the breakfast customer experience a bit and mend the lifts and shower.

The hotel was in a great location to access the city centre by foot. It was clean and well maintained, with friendly staff. The rooms were of a decent size, on site car parking. The breakfast was prepared quickly and included in the cost, which overall was good value.

Excellent hotel, staff very helpful and professional food in the restaurant was amazing, definitely stay here again when in Derby. The location is ideal for the City centre as well. Room was very quiet and clean , the bed was very comfortable as well.

Staff were absolutely amazing. So friendly and accommodating. The receptionist gave us another quilt. The hotel is having renovations done. The room we stayed in needs a new mattress so hopefully that will be done soon.
