Home Lisbon Hostel

First of all, I was so stunned to see how clean and orderly everything is in this hostel! It also smelled really nice and it looked more like a Hotel to me than a hostel. I was pretty lucky to have the room all to myself on my very first night. The staff were really friendly and kind. I took part of Mamma‘s Dinner which cost 15€ and it was totally worth it (appetizer, main course and dessert with drink + Porto wine ) and Mamma offered me a second portion of the main course which I just couldn’t decline😜 They also have Breakfast Buffet which only costs 5€ that offers a good variety of food, Pancakes, Cereals, Juices, Coffee, Eggs, Beans, Bacon and several fruits! And carrot cake as well! I highly recommend this Hostel which is located quite conveniently near the Metro and tourist spots like the Castle. A small letdown was the noise outside but I am still going to give it a perfect rating all in all since I am more than satisfied during my 6 days stay. PS: Also met a couple of new friends!

Decent, and clean but some staff were kind of rude. If you cancel the plans to have dinner at the hostel they charge you 5 euro so you are better off not telling them if you have signed up already and changed your mind for whatever reason. Thye told me it would be free as it was my birthday and then I explained that their earlier sinta trip had run over and that is why I could no longer attend and I was charged for cancelling. I wished I hadn't said anything or just kept me money.

A lovely little oasis in Lisbon. Located very centrally within walking distance to the centre of town and good public transport. The home is warm and comfortable run by a lovely team. Great breakfast and sorry not to have had a “mama dinner”.

Not really worth the price. Cold shower and average bed. The shower is never hot enough, only warmer than cold water, no body wash or shampoo provided, no breakfast, they charge cash for everything: city tax, lock rent. Their price is twice expensive than other hostels, not worth the price given the services provided.

Home Lisbon was wonderful! Some of the staff were a little cold. The pillows weren't very comfortable. But the bathrooms were clean. Meeting people was easy because of the bar and the breakfast dining area, and there were a bunch of solo travelers which was great for me. The best part of my stay was my walking tour with Paula she gave us a tour of Lisbon which was organized through the hostel and was free except for a tip. She was amazing! Funny and easygoing. I only stayed for 1 night but wished I stayed for longer.

I had such a great time at Home Hostel-- it was so easy to meet fellow travelers, the dinner was so fun, and the rooms and common areas were cozy and clean. Bunk beds were super private, and the bathroom in the all-girl area had a nice station with mirrors and hairdryers. There were a couple small maintenance issues there that staff were very quick to fix (showers overflowing!), and overall it was a great stay. Would definitely come back!

My niece and I stayed here on our tour of Spain and Portugal so she could have the hostel experience. It was wonderful! She's 18, and I'm 47, and the all-female dorm was just private enough for me but allowed her to get to know our dormmates, who were graduate students. The family dinner was amazing. It was a great way to meet other travelers and the staff was informative and friendly.

I couldn't have picked a better hostel for my birthday trip to Lisbon! The 6-bed female only dorms and bathroom facilities are comfortable and clean. I was able to leave my bags in the secure luggage room, free of charge, on my first and last days which meant I was free to explore the city. Breakfast is great value for €5. The bar area and Mama's dinner are amazing spaces to meet fellow travellers and the staff here are super friendly! I met so many lovely people of all ages; guests, volunteers, and staff that made my trip really special. The vibes here are impeccable! The hostel is an easy trip from the airport on the metro (just take the pink then green line to Baixa-Chiado and it's a short walk from there), and within walking distance there are so many great bars, restaurants and brunch spots. Cafe Nicolau next door always has a line, but it's so worth getting up a bit earlier to grab a table. Do yourself a favour and stay at this hostel when you're in Lisbon, I can't wait to come back!
