The Castle Collection - 25 Castle Street

Our apartment was in breach of health and safety regulations. Twin room was a small attic room on top of industrial staircase. You wouldn’t be able to walk barefoot there because they were pavement slabs at the bottom of the staircase and hardly any lighting. Make sure you don’t stay there with kids but even for us adults this set up was challenging especially trying to get to the bathroom at night. Cleanliness was leaving a lot to be desired for too. In short… look elsewhere.

We stayed at 3 Union Court. Brilliant value accommodation in the heart of the Georgian Quarter of Liverpool. A great base to explore Liverpool. Apartment is very spacious, bed comfortable and rooms are quiet considering its location. Spiral stairs to the apartment are a nice historic touch. Plenty of choices of places to eat and drink in a very short distance.

I got moved at short notice from 14 Cook Street (no issues with this) but I booked Cook Street based on a previous stay, I thought Castle Street was dated, could do with a good clean, wouldn’t define as luxury, windows are grubby, wouldn’t book this property again - took my deposit two days before my stay of £150, 5 days after checking out the deposit is still pending with no correspondence from them, quick enough to take it but not to return it.

I booked the castle apartment for an overnight stay in Liverpool for my partners birthday 🎂 after reading some of the reviews on here I was apprehensive about our stay! DONT be put off by these reviews! We arrived after an easy straightforward check in to find a beautiful large,spotlessly clean apartment which had everything you needed for a home from home stay! It exceeded my expectations so much I tried to book an extra night but unfortunately it was fully booked! Absolute prime location for everything we wanted for our stay! It was a little noisy at night due to the bars but that comes with staying in a prime city centre location! Not like we booked a country retreat 😂 would 100% recommend to my friends and family and would book again in a heartbeat but for a little longer next time! We love Liverpool ❤️😊

Second stay with the Castle Collection. Stayed at 42 this time as no availability at 25. Apartment again very well appointed and clean. We had a very comfortable stay. The apartment is close to everything you could need and well within easy walking distance of many of the attractions. Plenty of nice places nearby to have food. Normal chains plus some nice independents. Staff were helpful before the trip up with advice on parking etc. Will definitely be booking my next stay with them.

My husband and I stayed at 42 Castle Street in September 2022 and liked it so much that we booked with Castle Collection again. This time (May 2023 ) we stayed in 25 Castle Street (flat 12) and it was so grotty that we had to go out and buy cleaning products from Tesco’s (they only supply dishwashing liquid). It was actually an adventure of discovery. There was dried up vomit on the lounge suite, (nice and crunchy) the bed head and wall to the left of it had some liquid drip stuff on it ( came off with disinfectant wipes), the walls were filthy, (more liquid drips, so I can only assume that a lot of drinking/ puking must have taken place. The skirting boards had stains and black grime, ( sadly, they defeated me and my myriad of cleaning products) the cushions had liquid/vomit stains and the carpet was so gross I didn’t want to imagine what had gone on in the past. As for the view… well, the windows had bird crap all over them from the derelict building next door, which has more than its share of pigeons and their nests. If you leave any window open to let fresh air in, (it’s stuffy) the pigeons try to get in. They do tend to be somewhat noisy, but ear plugs fixed that. You get the odd seagull crapping, too, but I guess they decided that there’s no need to try and clean the windows, as there’s nothing to see anyway. I realise that that the building and birds are not Castle Collection’s fault, but they’re advertising ‘luxury apartments‘ and to be honest, this apartment made me feel uncomfortable and because it was so grotty, I avoided it as much as possible, and I was there for eight nights! Anyway, I managed to clean the vomit off the lounge and the drips off the bed head and wall, but the living room wall and skirting boards defeated me as they were too ingrained. Okay, it was straight after Eurovision, but really? I am a frequent visitor to Liverpool, as am originally from Liverpool and live in Australia, and I thought the Castle Collection was a great place - umm, no. So disheartening. Anyway, the positives - great location and communication regarding access etc was really efficient and friendly. Really easy access. Number 42 Castle St has a lift, but number 25 doesn’t. Car park nearby with discount rates.

The location of these apartments in Cook Street is superb. Surrounded by great restaurants and bars and only a few minutes' walk from Liverpool One and the Albert Dock area. However, therein lies the problem. We stayed in Apartment 2 for two nights - Friday and Saturday and the noise from the surrounding pubs between about 11 pm and 2.30am was horrendous. If you want a good night's sleep and you're staying at the weekend I would suggest you look elsewhere. Such a shame because the apartment itself was fabulous. Spacious, well equipped, clean , high ceilings, character features and all in a great location at a great price and the communication was excellent beforehand. I imagine the building is listed which means you can't have double-glazing but perhaps some secondary glazing would help. We bought ear plugs for the second night and they helped.

Awful stay. I do not usually leave reviews but during my stay I had to move because I was experiencing the same bad things other people had said. Seriously we're not lying, you should not trust this company. They don't tell you that they sign you up for a payment subscription which enables them to continually deduct money after your stay for what they claim are damages. I took pictures of broken shower seals, ripped furniture and dents in walls when I arrived and they did not actknowledge the time stamp and took a non consented £200 from me and are refusing to give it back. They do not have any staff on site at all. Fire alarm went off in middle of night and would not look into it until the morning when cleaners arrived. Cleaners are noisy and clean and bang doors every day from 5am! Accompanied by the heavy loud music from the bars that turn into clubs outside of which Castle Collection is situated between and are on top of. Upon arrival, my bathroom wasn't clean. There were missed defecations on the walls and toilet from previous stays. The pillows do not have protectors on, I had heavy spit stains, mould and make up on the pillows. Dispite the pillow covers bacteria is still present.
