Hotel Rheingold

We spent 2 nights at Hotel Rheingold so we could visit the sights. This was our first stay in Bayreuth even though we have ridden the Main bike path two times earlier. The hotel lies one block from the downtown pedestrian zone and one block from the large shopping mall. There is just an easy stroll to the Opera house and to the Neu Schloss. It would be much more of a walk to the Ermitage. The train station is about a 15 minute walk. The hotel has a secure bike parking closet in the basement garage. For cars the €7 daily parking fee seems good compared to other hotels we've stayed at. We were in room 302, a double room with king bed located on a corner of the building. When we arrived we were a bit concerned that the ac wasn't working. But within minutes the maintenance man showed up with the controller and got it up and running. He was evidentally checking the ac units in all the rooms on that floor. Otherwise the room would have been very hot. The room was clean and a reasonable size. The bathroom was also a good size, clean, and there was good hot water. We would have preferred just a shower, no bathtub, but that's just our preference. As others have noted the breakfast was great. There was hot eggs, bacon, sausage, a variety of fresh breads, cakes, and pastries, cereal, yogurts, fruits, etc. Hard to choose the best things to eat. We were quite happy with our stay.

I stayed here for a week in July on a business trip. The Rheingold works well as an efficient business-style hotel, with most things that you would want and expect. Rooms are comfortable, quiet and light, although showing real signs of wear, especially with the furniture. There are no fridges, mini-bars or tea/coffee making facilities. But a/c works well (not all rooms) and bathrooms are good. The breakfast buffet, hot and cold, is ample and fine. The breakfast room and restaurant/meeting-room spaces are OK, albeit lacking in character. There are some parking spaces outside the hotel (free) and a good value underground car-park next door. The hotel suffers from its actual location in Bayreuth, outside the main cultural and shopping areas, although these are all walkable - not necessarily through the most pleasant parts of the town. It’s 5 minutes to the market square across a busy road junction. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout.

One of those that depends on why you are there and what you pay. The location is really good. The staff are nice and helpful. Wifi is good, It looks a little dated but certainly not tatty. Breakfast is good and for a reasonable price by European standards. Bed comfortable if you like hard beds. The downside is the rooms are rather dim and cramped and very basic. There are zero facilities in the room, apart from the TV with only German channels. The desks are very small to the extent that one laptop requires freeing up space to fit on. If you are there on a visit where you will spend only sleeping time in the hotel this will not matter. If you are on business, where you might need to do some work in your room, spend time just recovering from a long day. the lack of in room facilities and space is not ideal at all. So three stars. Depends what you are there for and how much you pay, could be a hit or a little disappointing.

Location was nice (easy walking distance to the pedestrian zone and the Maisel Brewery), but the room was quite small and plain, especially for the price and with breakfast not included. Probably wouldn't stay here again.

Nettes Hotel, zentral gelegen. Nettes Personal, schmackhaftes Essen. Mein Zimmer war zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Kühlschrank und Safe fehlten aber. Das Zimmer war sauber und wohl vor nicht all zu langer Zeit renoviert worden. Der Fön war allerdings wohl ein Überbleibsel vergangener Jahre und tat nur kurz seinen Dienst.

Für den Besuch der Festspiele ist das Hotel seit vielen Jahren unsere Stammadresse. Das Personal ist immer freundlich, scheint aber auch jedes Jahr zu wechseln und als Stammgäste wurden wir noch nie erkannt (das kenne ich von sonst so anonymen Kettenhotels anders). Der Shuttle-Service ist mittlerweile trotz der hohen Übernachtungspreise zu Festspielzeiten leider kostenpflichtig, funktioniert aber prima, und die Zimmer sind sehr einfach, aber in Ordnung. Wir kommen gerne wieder, aber halten auch die Augen nach Alternativen offen.

Typischer Hotelgeruch, der Stil der Ausstattung ist in die Jahre gekommen, aber nichts ist abgenutzt, alles ist wirklich sauber und es gibt keine schwarzen Flecken im Bad. Statt Dusche ist eine Badewanne im Bad mit Duschvorhang. Leider klappert die Klimaanlage. Das Frühstück ist reichlich, nur leider nicht gut. Rührei aus Eipulver, Matjes neben Käse der neben Eiersalat steht. Vegetariern vergeht hier der Appetit, Veganer müssen hier komplett fasten.

Wir waren mit einer Gruppe dort.Großer und einladender Empfangsbereich , wo man auch mal verweilen mag.Das Personal war sehr freundlich, das Frühstück sehr gut mit großer Auswahl, . Zum Abendessen hatten wir als Gruppe ein Menü bestellt. Das gebuchte EZ hatte 2 Betten und war sehr geräumig .Es war sauber, ruhig. Das Hotel liegt in sehr guter Lage und zur Innenstadt sind es keine 15 Minuten.Das Bad hatte eine Badewanne mit Duscheschlauch und Abtrennung.
