My partner and I travelled around the August bank holiday and found this gem. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony and it was so lovely to sit at the veranda with the doors open with a cold beer and watch the bustle of the Opera square. I can't remember what room number we were in but I think it was the first from reception. I don't remember it ever being too noisy as we didn't spend too much time in the room, but I do agree with other reviewers that you can hear a murmur of voices between rooms, not loud enough to bother me or disturb sleep however. The room itself was large, had a desk, tv, fridge, air con, wardrobe with hangars, and a few chairs. Also had black out blinds and bed side lamps. The bathroom had towels which were changed daily, soaps and a hair dryer. It was all very clean on arrival and was cleaned and made up daily. Location is great. Right on the Opera plaza (with a metro station) and just behind the palace. Gran Via is a few minutes walks, and everything else is within walking distance. There are great eateries in all directions including traditional and modern in a variety of cuisines. Transport links are all around, however we didn't use them apart from going to and from the airport. Can't comment much on staff but check in was quick and simple and email communications beforehand were easy. We booked direct with the hotel and got an awesome deal - 256 euros for 4 nights (just over £50 a night). They speak good English. There was always someone at the reception desk. Can't really fault the place, I had a great time and would come back!
