Hotel Malcesine

Excellent location with lake view and the staff is good. If they can provide free bottles of water, that's perfect.

I was a little concerned reading reviews ahead of our stay but was pleasantly surprised. Yes, it's a bit tired, basic....but....super clean, location amazing with stunning views, staff all so friendly and the meals from the restaurant are lovely with a 10% discount given to guests. All in all, a very comfortable stay at a great price, you couldn't get a better location for the money and in Lake Garda you spend every second you can looking at the views not in your room!

A brilliant stay at hotel Malcesine. Very friendly staff who couldn’t be more helpful when needed. We fell in love a little with George who works in the restaurant. Beds were a little hard but just put the duvet underneath the sheet and problem solved. LGBT friendly, comfortable and clean 🏳️‍🌈

We stayed at this hotel 15yrs ago but at the time there wasn't air conditioning. When I was looking to visit again I was delighted that the rooms now have air con. The staff were amazing breakfast, restaraunt and maid service. All friendly and helpful. The hotel is right in the middle of beautiful Malcesne with bars and shops right outside along with the ferry port steps away. We were with my 90yr old Dad and it was perfect. We ate at the hotel a few times and the setting right on the lake was stunning and food was great too. Big thank you to Pam for sorting the rooms that fitted our requirements. We had an amazing stay and the view from our balcony was just stunning. The price for the location was such good value, you would expect to pay so much more to be so central. Rooms were lovely and clean & comfy. Could not fault our stay, thank you.

I went on this Riviera holiday and was happy with the kindness of the staff. I arrived with raging tootheche and the Manageress arranged for an ummediate appointment at a local dentist and a taxi to take me there and back wiyth a stop at the chemust included. I was soonon the mend. This was typical of the general attitude of the staff. No effort was toomych fot them. Food and drink was excellent.

I traveled here in May 2023 with Newmarket Holidays. The first thing I would say is that travelling from one of Milan's airports takes much longer than the actual flight to Italy from UK. I was the last passenger to be dropped off and arrived at 1.30am. I got a friendly welcome but nothing to eat/drink or help with my case. There was no kettle in the room, no coffee, nothing. The transfer was four and a half hours! It's about 3 hours to the lake then well over an hour dropping off at all the other hotel. It was the reverse on the way home. The drivers lock the onboard toilet to save having to clean. They only stop if their driver's hours dictate. The room I got was small and basic to say the least. My biggest gripe is paying a single's supplement and then being given a room which is only a single room anyway. What did I pay a supplement for? I'd understand if I had a double room with just me in it. To be fair, the room was clean and the shower worked well but that's as far as it goes. I could feel the springs in the cheap mattress, the towels were like old thin bed sheets that had been cut up and the toiletries were few as well as cheap. Very poor value for money. I couldn't really say the views made up for it all. I was over the back yard and if I leaned out of the window, yes, I could see the lake but every morning from 5.30am onward, I'd be woken by staff shouting to each other as they smoked and received the noisy deliveries across the cobbled yard below. The hotel is very basic and some of their photos are way out of date. The The food was very basic and on occasions poor to say the least. Breakfast was the same drab offerings each morning. I saw that some couples were 'allocated' a table that they used throughout. As a single traveler, I felt I was not really important to them and sat wherever was left. Occasionally I'd have to sort my own cutlery as the table had already been used and the staff didn't think to relay the table for me. One evening I was late back, along with others, from a trip. The meal was served very abruptly and with no pleasantries as they were finishing for the evening. The recurring theme throughout, was that customer focus was lacking despite the smiles from some of the staff. The staff at the outdoor restaurant were a bit better and the meals at cost were better than those included in the booking. It wasn't cheap but was satisfactory. One of the ferry terminals is right outside the hotel so it gets a bit noisy and blocks the views. Other issues include the WiFi being poor. Make sure you have data on your phone to use if it matters to you as the reception was the only place I could keep a signal on WiFi. Take different adapters as their sockets are the older L type and not the newer Euro F type. Take a travel kettle and coffee/tea. There's no fridge but you can get milk each day from shops nearby. I chose this hotel for it's location, expecting it to be basic but not such poor value or poor quality f

We had a fantastic stay here, the staff across the hotel are absolutely fantastic, always friendly and Super helpful a true credit to the hotel. The hotel is in a perfect location, close to everything around the town and right on the lake, the food for breakfast has enough choice as to not be too much. The room we stayed in (324) was a pretty standard size room with a great view of the cobblestone streets below, easy to watch the world go by. The bathroom was to be fair very small (especially for a bigger guy like me) but how long do you want to spend in the bathroom whilst you are away?!? I would highly recommend this hotel. Many thank yous to the staff that also organised a bottle of wine (which was very nice) in our hotel room when we arrived and a printed card as we were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary 😊

We returned last Wednesday evening from a week's stay at the Hotel Malcesine on a Newmarket Holidays holiday. The hotel is very well situated, right on the lake and by the port for catching ferries to other towns. It's only minutes from the centre of Malcesine. There are many positives: The hotel is very clean and staff are welcoming, friendly and very helpful. A special thank you to Christina on reception, to our cleaner who kept our room spotlessly clean, to the waiters in the indoor restaurant and those in the outside restaurant, from which the views are excellent. It is possible to sit there with just a coffee or a soft/ alcoholic drink. There are negatives : in our bedroom the only places to charge phones, etc were the shaver socket in the bathroom and the tv socket in the bedroom. Not ideal ! The indoor restaurant was dark, crowded and had no views. Service ended at 8 p.m. The set menu which everyone eating there had to choose from was mediocre with limited choices. On one evening we opted to eat in the outside restaurant, for which we had to pay, and had a really enjoyable meal. We also had two enjoyable lunches there.

Positives: great location right on the lake in the centre of this pretty town and next to the ferry stop. Very helpful reception and waiting staff. Lovely sunbathing area with steps into the lake. Negatives: breakfast and dinner has to be taken in a very cramped and dark room at the back of the hotel and service finishes at 8pm! The much nicer restaurant at the front of the hotel is under separate management. I would recommend eating at one of the many other excellent restaurants in Malcesine.
