Birchmont Motel

Birchmont Motel is a simple, safe place to stay. There is a small heated pool, which is kept clean. Each room contains a tiny coffee maker, kitchen-style sink, microwave, and fridge. The balcony and patio faces Lake Superior and provides a beautiful view The Birchmont was full when we stayed, but we did not hear noise from other guests. Dogs are welcome too. Most cars in the lot had trailers holding expensive bikes or motorcycles but nobody seemed worried about crime. The bathroom is very basic; my husband noted that the shower is designed for small people. Running the air conditioner is a must because the traffic noise from the highway separating the Birchmont from the lake is pretty loud, so windows need to be closed at night. Depending on the events in Marquette, there can be many cars on the highway which makes accessing the lakeside biking/hiking trail a bit harrowing. The doors do not allow guests to use their access codes until 3:00 sharp. There are no places to eat on sight so plan to bring food or drive into Marquette, which contains a plethora of restaurants.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Birchmont Motel. Only 2 miles from the downtown area, and right across the street from the bike trail. Large, clean room, and excellent view to watch the sunrise over Superior. Would def stay here again.

Great Motel! Views are great! Easy contactless check in. Looking forward to coming back in the summer! Clean and very comfortable accomodations. Just a few minute drive to town with lots of shops and restaurants

I wanted to love it! The view is spectacular. The room was fair and clean. Unit 28, sadly the beds were like a rock. I’m 67 and my mom is 88. It would have been nice to have a softer bed for us older folks. Also, the design of the cupboard sticking out past the closet was not friendly, my mom got up in the night and hit her head on it. She wouldn’t complain, but she was dizzy for several hours. If you could fix that cupboard and put a memory pad or something on the mattresses, I’d give you 4 stars, but our experience only 2 stars, barely.

Nothing wrong with the room. But it's right next to a highway, with cars roaring by at all hours of the night. There does not seem to be any soundproofing like double pane windows. I slept hardly at all for two nights. Would not recommend.

I really wanted to like this place, but I will never stay here again. This place has not been remodeled or upgraded as some other reviewers have stated. This is just an old, cheap motel on a busy highway. It happens to also have a really nice view of Lake Superior and its close to town. PROS -The beds are very comfy! -The view of the lake across the highway is really nice -The lake walkway/bike path is right across the highway (if you can make it!) -It is close to town CONS -The road noise is extremely LOUD (and I'm someone who lives on a busy street - but this is a LOT) -There's so much traffic, it's hard to cross the road by foot OR by car. -BRIGHT LIGHTS ALL NIGHT - there are lights on the decks (at least on the 1st floor there is) and they stay on all night long. You can't turn them off. The curtains didn't completely block the light so there was light coming in all night! (I put a blanket over the window the 2nd night,) -AND you can't go out on your deck and see the stars because those lights are as bright as daylight. I asked if there was a way to turn them off or dim them and they said they'd "look in to it" and never got back to me! (I understand it may be regulations or something, but for them to not respond with an explanation is NOT OKAY.) -PLUS, the lights attract lots of BUGS at night. -No closet doors -Only a couple of hangers in each room (5 hangers total in the 2-room suite!) -The window overlooking the lake was so dirty, I had to clean it so we could see (had to remove the screen to do it,) -Bad coffee -- one of those tiny one-cup hotel coffee makers. Had hoped for a real coffee maker so we could brew our own. If they were to add a lot of homey touches in the roons so that it actually does feel more like an Air BnB, the traffic noise would probably become acceptable, but there's just not enough good here to put up with it. Never again.

We would give a 5 star, however, no face to face person on site. Amazing location. Amazing view. The room was great. Our impression is this is a hotel that operates like an Airbnb/Vrbo. We think that is great, just communicate it on the website so customers have that knowledge. We would stay again.

This place is amazing, very relaxing, and fun to stay at. The room had a great layout and was extremely comfortable. The TV worked great and had plenty of options. Honestly, I didn't want to leave, it was that great.

Could be 5 stars nobody on site great view of lake superior room is spacious and clean pool looks nice parking lot needs work texted me a message said room was ready which was very nice would stay again .my opinion is it is a touch pricey. I did know the price when I reserved so that is on me
