Macdonald la Ermita Resort

La Ermita resort is on the edge of the picturesque hillside town of Mijas only ten minutes but a world away from bustling Fuengirola. La Ermita comprises four low blocks of self catering apartments with uniterrupted views of of the sea and coastline from a more than adequate balcony. Our 2 bedroom apartment was imacculately clean, featured an excellent en suite bathroom and a further bathroom. The kitchen and main room were were well equipped and stylish. And everything worked! Staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable and spoke quite good english. Nothing was too much trouble! There are two outdoor swimming pools and indoor heated pools and gym - and a bistro bar. Good for kids!. A short walk (steep slopes in MIjas!) and you are in a plaza complete with famous Mijas donkey taxis, quality restaurants and bars, and leather shops and a myriad of interconnecting steps and passages leading you along cobbled streets and white walls homes and mutlple shops. It's noticeable that this is as much for locals as it is for tourists. Its a real place! If you are a Macdonalds Resorts member be reassured this is a major step up from the UK resorts where good staff and facilities are let down by the supervised neglect by MAcdonalds of the timeshare apartments which are deteriorating and poor. This is brilliant and highly recommended.

We booked this via *********** had a lovely clean room super soft towels, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay reception staff were lovely, convenient for walking into the village although it’s uphill didn’t bother us, if they could add a teapot and some tall glasses for a gin & tonic on the balcony that would be great would definitely stay again

We booked via *********** mid June having never been to Mijas before and been used to many years of all inclusive and wanted a change. I messaged and asked for our room to be ready when we arrived at 10am and luckily it was. We paid extra for a Sea view and it was worth it. 2 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and one floor up (mezzanine) from the pool. Apartment was spotless and had everything we needed. They also supply towels for the by the pool which get changed once a week if you’re staying for longer than a week but with a washing machine there it didn’t matter. The upper pool is quieter and for over 14s only. The lower pool is small but does the job. No rush for sunbeds even mid august, we’d stroll down at 11am and get them no problem. If you want sun until as late as possible get beds to the right of the pool in front of the balcony wall. Had a few late lunches and they were all lovely, staff in the bistro are great. Gym is clean, indoor pool sometimes got busy but it was 34 so understand why! It’s a steep walk up the hill or 75 steps but there is a lift by the car park (we never used it). Perfect location, quiet but friendly and not over run with kids (we went with our 9 year old) but enough there to keep each ut her amused/make pool friends.

Amazing resort, location and apartment. Had previously stayed in the other 3 Macdonald resorts on the coast in this area but this was the first time at La Ermita. We wanted to stay in the village so we could sample the restaurants at night and the whole area did not disappoint. The resort is on the outskirts of the village so is quiet, even when the village is teeming with tourists. Yet everywhere is in walking distance. Our apartment was amazing, very spacious, spotless and had all we needed and more! The views of mountains and coast were outstanding. Everybody was so friendly, would return in a heartbeat. Thank you.

Lovely hotel, clean and very spacious rooms. Kitchen well equipt. Lady on reception very friendly and helpful. Check in at 5 seems rather late coupled with the early time for check out but it is what it is. Only little gripe which stops me giving 5 stars is the showers were rubbish. No power really and they spat a bit of water all over the place. Better having a bath with the shower hose part. We all had a lovely time though would return

Fantastic location, short walk (uphill) to Mijas main square. Thank you to previous reviewer who suggested popping into the car park and using the lift to go up 👍 - saved on the legs! Good points: * beautifully decorated spa/wellness area (indoor pool, sauna, steam room), * 2 lovely outside pools (not too crowded, great temperature, clean, lifeguard who puts up the umbrellas and makes sure that people don't hog the loungers if they are not there, fabulous views, top pool for over 14s, lower pool for families with kids under 14, terracotta tiles around the pool get very hot so wear flipflops/sliders!); * covered parking (shade, plenty of spaces, 10 euro refundable deposit for the garage door key, can be tricky to manoeuvre into/in the carpark but such a bonus to have this option, we saw EV charging points in there as well); * friendly staff (thanks to the chap and Sils who checked us in and Estafania), * amazing views from the balcony, * clean, spacious accommodation, * comfy beds, * well-stocked kitchenettes (fridge/freezer, oven, microwave, washing machine) with some basics supplied (kitchen towel, washing liquid, tea towels etc), * good-sized bathrooms, excellent showers (good water pressure, lots of hot water), pool and hotel towels provided., * decently priced for a hotel in such a good location with pools and parking. Not-so-good points: Wifi is a bit patchy and doesn't always make it to the bedrooms. Bins need to be emptied into a main bin in the undercover carpark (level -1) which is fine but it is disappointing there are no recycling bins onsite (you can use the large ones just opposite the main hotel entrance on the road but this extra effort might put people off recycling which is a shame). Would have given this a 5* rating but for the aircon breaking down on our 3rd night and being told an engineer had come (not sure he really did as he said we'd dropped the temp below 19 and the unit had 'frozen' but we never dropped the temp below 22 as that was cold enough). Turned the aircon off for 1 hour to 'reset it' but unit still didn't work. Took 2 trips to reception and finally a message on the Macdonald website (general enquiry) to get an immediate call from Estefania (who speaks excellent English) with a soothing apology and an offer to move to a nearby apartment (which had working AC!). Hurrah for Estafania! 1st apartment (no.47) was fairly basic decor with a crinkly mattress protector that sounded like we were sleeping on a crisp packet. Also the main wardrobe door was off its track so didn't slide easily. Felt a bit early-IKEA and slightly tired but still perfectly good for a short break (5 nights). 2nd apartment (no.45) was beautifully decorated (clearly someone's holiday home/timeshare) and the bed had a comfy (quiet) topper. We hadn't realised how different the apartments are till we moved. Worth bearing this in mind when you book. Main takeaway from this stay: definitely worth staying here for location/pool/p

This was out third visit here. Our last visit was 2018. As good as we remembered. This is a lovely peaceful place. Pool areas are lovely all three of them. Everything is immaculately clean. Our apartment was spotless. Wi-Fi was great. Staff lovely. Special mention to the lovely ladies at the on-site restaurant. They were very friendly and food was lovely. If I had any suggestions it would be more games in the games room for younger guests. All that is on offer is table tennis. A lovely relaxing peaceful 10 days ! Highly recommend!

First time using this resort. We all enjoyed the experience. The room a two bedroom superior plus had a great balcony with superb views. The main bedroom was very nice and spacious the second was on the small side for two adults. Plenty of room round the pools. Pity the bistro closed at 6pm for drinks and food. The staff were very friendly especially Sil who managed to print our boarding passes for us. Tip When you go into Mijas there is a slope upto the multistory car park if you go to the right and downhill to the end of the car park there is a lift inside that will take you up to the many eating places it also takes you to the taxis and the donkeys.
