The White House Hotel

I met some friends for lunch and the food was excellent. Home cooked and fresh tasting. I had the pepper chicken which was delicious. My friends had the chicken roulade and the salmon and they also throughly enjoyed their lunch. Puddings were also home made and delicious. Lemon meringue , bread and butter pudding and chocolate fudge cake. It made a change to have proper puddings on the menu rather than the usual boring chocolate brownie and ice cream etc which other restaurants seem to rely on. Thank you we will definitely return .

Firstly as I went to the room there was a massive pile of what looked like soiled blankets and towels, just dumped in the corridor. I then had a problem that I couldn't figure out how to use the bathroom light so the manager came up and showed me what I had done wrong. After that was solved I pointed out how discusting it was to leave that in the corridor and it was really unsightly. She looked at it and didn't seem to care. This pile remained there all night. I though I would have a cup of coffee and was surprised to see the kettle was unusable due to the amount of limescale in the base. So forgot that idea. Went and had something to eat. The menu was OK and again the food was OK. When I returned to my roomthere was constant really loud banging of doors and the eventually at 9pm the fire alarm went off and we all had to go outside into the carpark. Again really loud banging of doors and shouting. Eventually after going to sleep I was woken up at 1am by residents all screaming, shouting and swearing other before slamming all the doors again. I will not put myself through staying here again and was extremely disappointed

Went with a party of 40 for the church Chris**as meal. At £22.95 for a 3 course meal it was very reasonably priced. We had a selection of starters mains and puddings and I chose the garlic mushrooms on ciabatta, roast beef Yorkshire pudding, and biscoff cheesecake.all food was plentiful fresh and good quality all served with a generous selection of fresh vegetables. Waiting staff were efficient and made sure we were all served and happy.well worth a visit I will definitely return here.

Absolutely amazing, totally recommended for anyone travelling on business. Staff are so helpful, massive beer garden, rooms are so comfy with everything you need. Honestly didn't want to leave. Thankyou to all the staff.x

Booked four nights, stayed one, that was enough. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room and bed were awful. Bathroom air extract vent didn't work, shower head slid down its rail, peeling paint on the ceiling, main window handle broken, generally all of poor low standard. But worst of all was the attrocious bed. The mattress was hash, sunk in the middle, and was so uncomfortable I only gor 2-3 hours sleep that night. I couldn't get out of there quick enough the next day. I also lost prepayment for the remaining three nights.

Booking this hotel is by far the biggest regret of my life. In summary: Staff & food ok, restaurant service needs improvement, room security shocking, room cleaning missing important touches however the bed was surprisingly comfortable. No-one ensured I was happy with my food, After finishing, my plate was taken, nothing was said. After 20 mins I had to shout out to ask for another drink. When she brought the drink to my table she didn’t think to take the empty glass - even though she walked back to the bar?! The hotel itself, despite currently being painted, the decor makes it feel like Faulty Towers. You couldn’t lock the room from the inside, but you could open the room next door (I did this without realising until I was in their room!) The Duty Manager displayed empathy but couldn’t move me as the hotel was full. She suggested I wedged a chair against the door to secure myself from the inside!. Cobwebs everywhere and spiders in the room. I just wished I’d looked at the previous reviews before booking. Never felt so nervous about staying in a hotel.

Stayed here for a family wedding, what a shambles. Was ment to be a family room for 3 guests. Definitely was not what we payed for and had no regard for basic health and safety or fire regulations. Ladies in restaurant were lovely however shame the management weren't the same when we approached with our concerns and even shown photos so he could see.

The container holding the tea and coffee was dirty. More importantly when I got out of the bath and moved the shower screen it came off it’s hinges. I managed to stop it falling on me but as I am waiting for a hip replacement it jarred my already painful hip. This is a very serious hazard to health and safety.

Absolute disregard for customer service. I don’t normally write reviews on here but I’m afraid this deserved it. On a Monday night we have a running group around Telford. We try and use different pubs in the area so that we can help trade out in pubs on normally a quiet Monday night. Tonight (20.7.23) we took over 30 runners into the White House hotel for a post run drink and just some chips with bread and butter. Over the weekend a fellow runner has visited the establishment to tell them about our visit and ask if we could have some food. The owner said yes and it would be approx £1.75 per head depending on numbers. Normally we pay max £25 for us all due to amount of beer we buy (normally a couple of pints each so could he 50/60 pints all in all) Pre to the hotel making the chips etc I stressed to the waitress behind the bar that £30 was the MAXIMUM we would pay. She said she would pass the message on. We all started getting drinks and then out came maybe 4 bowls of chips with 2 x big plates of bread and butter. I thought to myself that it was abit light on chips/bread and butter for £30 but hey ho. When we came to pay the bill for the chips etc at end of night we were presented with a bill of £52.50!! I stressed to the staff behind the bar about how I said I was going to pay £30 max and even they could see we certainly didn’t have £52 worth of chips and bread and butter! They agreed. The manageress came over and said that £1.75 was agree me with her owner and there was no comeback. When I told her about the conversation with the person behind the bar about £30 max she just said that it wasn’t with her so didn’t count. I then explained about how we had turned her quiet Monday night takings into a busy one for beer but she wasn’t bothered even to the extent that I said we would never bring her this custom again and she said ‘good’. It’s obviously up to you to make your own mind up about this review and who is in right but these are the facts and surely people in this trade need to try and at least be reasonable. £52.50 for 4 bowls of chips and 2 plates of bread and butter is not what I call reasonable. I will add wedid pay the £52.50 but will never visit them again.
