We chose a 4-bedroom unit for our 7-member family gathering in New Orleans and we were not disappointed. The 3rd floor unit we rented had easy building access plus an elevator, making bag & meal transportation a breeze. We had ordered a prepared Thanksgiving dinner from a local grocery store, which was only 4 blocks away. The Canal Street/Bourbon Street intersection was at the end of the block, so street car and bus stops were super convenient. Keep in mind that the unit is in the middle of a block full of restaurants just a block from the start of Bourbon Street-the little bit of street noise we heard in our unit was due to food service delivery trucks and distant sirens. We were prepared for a LOT more noise, being so close to the Quarter. Our unit was very clean and spacious enough that seven adults were comfortable gathered in the kitchen/dining area. There were 2 full bathroom (showers, no tubs), one with a sink/vanity (nice storage). One of the toilets had traditional seat with a lid but the other toilet seat was more “industrial”, lacking a lid to place your towels on (room also lacked sufficient towel bars and shower grab bars). Two of the bedrooms had no windows, so that was perfect for our family who sleep best in total darkness. One bedroom was flooded with natural light and the other had light but bed placement reduced the lights got to manageable limits. All the windows had adjustable roller shades for perfect light control. Beds were all comfortable with nice, clean bedding. The stackable washer/dryer unit in the hall was nice and did the job. We got caught in heavy rainstorm one night and everyone was drenched by the time we hit back-that dryer was very much appreciated! There were only a couple of complaints and none were deal breakers. There was no laundry detergent, coffee, creamer, or wash cloths or n either the unit or in the essentials closet mentioned in our check-in instructions. One text to Customer Service remedied the situation promptly. The other situation was the length of time it took for hot water to reach the showers-nothing major, just a little inconvenient. As the building was obviously converted from commercial use to residential, little things like that are to be expected. The kitchen had ample counter space and nice appliances: toaster, coffee maker and electric kettle for breakfast prep. No ice maker in the fridge, but refillable trays handled our ice needs adequately. Unfortunately, the oven was “slow”, and proved yo be a bit problematic when it came time to heat up all the pre-cooked dishes for our dinner. Check out couldn’t have been any easier-just close the door on the way out! Our overall experience was great & we will look for Sonder units first on future trips.
