We had a nice overnight stay at the Big Sky, a small unpretentious motel style accommodation. Located on a quiet backstreet in Omarama, it was only a pleasant 5-10 min walk into the shops and cafes. There is free parking in the somewhat tight little parking area. The friendly hosts provided a welcome reception and we were quickly checked into our room, a basic 1-bedroom apartment with small kitchenette. The room was quite cozy, but a bit small for the 3 of us (it would be suitable for 2). With 2 of us in the bedroom and 1 sleeping on the couch. Everything was clean and comfortable and no-frills. We had a good stay but thought it was a bit overpriced for what it was. We would stay here again given the chance and recommend it to other travelers.

Very friendly staff, great design and stylish decor. Nice quiet location on the edge of town .. .Well equipped facilities including told for bike repairs! I hope to return again in the future.. That's all I have to say without padding it out!

Appears to be new. Not sure but certainly looks it inside. It’s super clean, sparkling floors and sparkling ensuite. Comfortable bed and great size TV. Fridge freezer, microwave, good bench space. Big area and 1 bedroom. Can’t fault it. Friendly hosts. Parking onsite. Would definitely stay here again. It’s on a quiet street.

A lovely motel with fabulous hosts. The only problem is that the bed is rock hard. They leave the electric blankets on in summer so on a hard bed you can feel the wires. They really need memory foam topper pads. My back really hurt each morning and after four nights I had had more than enough. I discussed the issue with the managers and they had no solutions available to me as the owner had not provided any. I only hope he will now. If they put topper pads on the bed I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Such awesome service provided by Hank and Kay. Very friendly and welcoming and will go the extra mile to make sure you're stay goes well. Will also make sure that anything you leave behind will be promptly returned to you.

Huge thank you to Hank and Kay for assisting us during our unexpected emergency layover in Omarama. The stay at BigSky was comfortable and a much needed respite for our most memorable start to a holiday yet (think flight cancellations, unplanned road trip, broken down car, flooding, road closure). Hank went the extra mile to check on us, offer help and give us lifts into town. The rooms are super clean, new and cosy. Kitchen is well equipped and love the Manuka toiletries provided. We are a family of 4 travelling (mum, 2 teens and a child) and managed to squeeze in one room with the aid of the double sofa bed. After arriving wet and cold on a rainy winter night when our car broke down, the room was most inviting. Next time we visit this part of NZ, will definitely stop by again. Thanks Natalie

my wife and I were traveling through from te anau to christchurch and stayed a night at the big sky motel. the owner/ managers were very welcoming and friendly. the motel units are very modern , central , quiet and comfortable. we enjoyed our short stay and will definitely stop by again next time we are passing through.

Hank and Kaye are real salt of the earth decent and genuine people. They work hard to provide clean, comfortable and welcoming accomodation with lots of friendly conversation. The Bigsky motel is quiet, peaceful and feels safe! Great location, just a short stroll to restaurants, cafes the four square etc. We were offered bikes, fishing gear and there is an outdoor bbq area, laundry and there is service/help whenever you need it. We had a fabulous handful of days here and can't recommend Bigsky enough to those passing through Omarama. Thanks Hank and Kaye, we will be back, all the best

We really enjoyed staying here. Owners are lovely and it is such a peaceful location. The room was spotless and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again next time we’re in Omarama. Thanks for having us 😀
