IInvitéWe were delighted to have found and stayed at this property. Minzhushanfang is a very new bed-and-breakfast accommodation with a minimalist, calming, zen-style architecture befitting of the Wuyishan area. The rooms are similarly designed along the same minimalist, zen concept and are true to the property photos published on the booking platform. We deliberately chose an accommodation away from the hustle and bustle of town and so, found the location of Mingzhushanfang excellent. Located directly across from the entrance of the Wuyishan scenic area, it was very convenient accessing the park while being peaceful and tranquil. Do note that with its location being away from town centre, dining options at or near the property aren't many, so having dinner near town, prior to heading back to the hotel at night is strongly recommended.
The room we booked has a peaceful stream view, and looks remotely across towards the Dawangfeng peak. Room and facilities are very clean. While it seems smoking is not prohibited in the rooms, we were very thankful we had no issues whatsoever with residual smoke odour.
The owners of this property, who are also tea growers and manufacturers, were extremely hospitable. We were always welcomed for candid tea tastings and conversation at the lobby area, They even went out of their way to help us when we got abit lost in town! Their breakfast made by their Ah Yi is wholesome and amazing - with a lot of farm-to-table ingredients freshly harvested from their own vegetable patch. I would love to go back to visit Wuyishan again and will not hestiate to stay at Minzhushanfang again.

Séjourner dans cet hôtel a rendu notre visite du site classé au patrimoine mondial de Wuyishan d'autant plus enrichissante.
1. La chambre était très propre, bien conçue et bien équipée. On y trouvait un large choix d'en-cas, de fruits et de thé Dahongpao. Un copieux petit-déjeuner était également servi.
2. Le service était impeccable. Le directeur de maison, jeune et dynamique, était aux petits soins, et les clients bénéficient d'un majordome personnel.
3. Depuis le toit-terrasse, les clients bénéficient d'une vue panoramique sur les montagnes Wuyishan.
4. L'incontournable Impression Dahongpao est à quelques pas. Cet hôtel est idéalement situé pour les visiteurs qui viennent à Wuyishan pour assister à ce spectacle. (À mon humble avis, ce serait un véritable gâchis de visiter Wuyishan sans voir Impression Dahongpao.) La direction de l'hôtel nous a trouvé les meilleures places disponibles pour la section choisie, à un meilleur prix que celles proposées en ligne.
5. L'arrêt de bus où nous avons pris le bus pour l'entrée du site pittoresque de Wuyishan est accessible à pied. Si vous préférez héler un taxi (Didi), le prix est d'environ 6 yuans. Dans la direction opposée à l'hôtel, les rues du thé sont à peu près à la même distance. Si vous ne souhaitez pas aller en ville pour manger, vous trouverez également de nombreux restaurants et stands de restauration à proximité d'Impression Dahongpao.
6. Nous avons passé trois nuits à l'hôtel et pensons avoir bien planifié notre séjour. Nous voulions profiter du trajet panoramique en tramway de la gare TGV de Nanping à Wuyishan et, à notre arrivée à l'hôtel, il était déjà l'après-midi. Nous sommes montés sur le toit pour admirer la vue et nous préparer pour la visite de l'immense parc. Tôt le lendemain matin, nous sommes allés au parc après le petit-déjeuner. Le premier jour, nous voulions faire du rafting en bambou et admirer les six anciens Dahongpao. L'observation des arbres a été encore plus enrichissante lorsque nous avons assisté à l'Impression Dahongpao le deuxième soir. Le troisième jour, nous avons grimpé jusqu'au sommet du Wuyishan. Sans la pression du temps, l'ascension s'est faite en toute sécurité. Les vues le long du sentier et depuis le sommet étaient spectaculaires. En fin d'après-midi ou de soirée, nous avons visité la ville et arpenté les rues du thé.
7. Nous avons reçu un joli cadeau lors de notre départ le quatrième jour.

IInvitéNous avons réservé la villa à deux étages et nous avons vraiment apprécié la beauté du paysage dans les terrains de l'hôtel, ainsi que l'excellent service. De la porte, du personnel du restaurant, de l'électricité, aux conducteurs tous étaient amis, accueillant, et toujours prêts à aider.
Un grand merci à notre Butler, Xiao Fang. Elle est si belle et soignée dame incroyablement aideuse, patiente et attentive. J'ai changé mon horaire de voyage en bateau à plusieurs reprises, et elle a traité tout avec tant de patience et de professionnalisme.
Xiao Fang a vraiment fait notre vacances plus agréable et totalement sans soucis.
Nous aimerions revenir à cet hôtel.

I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay.
I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me.
I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters.
To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget.
For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms.
Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful.
The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees.
This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine.
This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit.
It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

The bathroom is large, spotless, and well-equipped with amenities. I especially loved the beautiful natural light in the room.
On the ground floor, there’s a vibrant tea shop where young locals drop by, creating a lively atmosphere. You'll find historical exhibitions and curated objects that offer insight into both Wuyishan and the rich heritage of Chinese tea. And don’t miss meeting Xiaobai, the friendly resident dog who’s always happy to greet guests.
The 6th floor features a cozy tatami-style common room, complete with a go board and a tea table overlooking stunning panoramic mountain views — an ideal place to unwind.
What truly sets this place apart is the host and the staff. They’re warm, welcoming, and always ready to share tea with you — each time you return from a walk or come downstairs. I stayed two nights and tried at least 6–7 different kinds of Wuyishan tea. Even as a solo traveler and a foreigner, I felt included in conversations and easily connected with other guests.
Pro tip: If you know a bit of Chinese, it’ll help you dive deeper into the stories behind the place. But even if you don’t, the language of tea will still make you feel at home.

IInvitéNous avons emmené notre famille en vacances au mont Wuyi et avons réservé cet hôtel après avoir entendu dire qu'il était le plus grand de la région pittoresque. Comme nous étions en voiture, nous avons pu nous y rendre directement après avoir enregistré notre plaque d'immatriculation ! L'environnement était élégant et calme, parfait pour les travailleurs souhaitant échapper à l'agitation de la ville. Il y a aussi une superbe terrasse d'observation avec vue directe sur le pic Dawang ! Le personnel était également incroyablement accueillant, nous offrant un thé gratuit et un petit-déjeuner copieux que nous n'avons pas pu terminer. Hahaha ! Je reviendrai sans hésiter la prochaine fois !

Despite language barrier in communication, they will try their best to help you and not a big deal if you can use an APP for translation. Breakfast has not many options and most is Chinese food. The plus point is its convenient to go around in Wuyi resort town. Pedestrian street is just behind the hotel so easy to find food and snacks.
