Lovely surroundings with beautiful gardens and walks. A heated pool. Our cottage was lovely with a full kitchen and a separate bedroom. Our hosts we really friendly and showed us all the facilities. We were just in time to see the sunset which was glorious. Would love to stay again.

Outstandingly beautiful location and the most wonderful host. Everything you could possibly need and more. The little touches like fresh flowers, pool towels and a fully equipped kitchen make this place so easy to feel at home with. To top it all Andrea is so friendly and helpful. I’d give it 6 stars if I could!

This would be one of the best bed and breakfast places I have stayed at. We were greeted on arrival by Mike and Andrea, escorted around and taken to our rooms. Our accommodation was clean and tidy and my bed was superbly comfortable. Our breakfast, cooked by Mike was excellent, the range was extensive, beautifully presented and delicious. Mike and Andrea were friendly, helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had all we needed. We would highly recommend this place and were sorry we only had one night here, we would have loved to have stayed longer.

Absolutely one of our best nights away. The setup in the Kohinui Cottage was great. Lovely presentation and decor. Very private and very comfortable beds. Location is beautiful. We wanted to visit the local Parua Bay tavern and weren't disappointed. Andrea, our host couldn't have been more welcoming. Great place to chill. Many thanks. Ben and Jan.

We had the loveliest 3 nights at Kauri Villas. Mike & Andrea made us so welcome. The setting is beautiful.. we had the Magnolia suite which just made our stay so special. The rooms were beautifully presented . We had dinner at the Tavern joining in the weekly quiz night. Thanks for asking us Mike. We had never explored the Whangarei Heads and we spent a magic day seeing a part of NZ that we didn't know. We can highly recommend the villas. The breakfast were a delight. Spectacular location, very good amenities including pool, spa, games room with pool table and table tennis, lots of bird life, comfortable bed, superb hosts ( Andrea and Michael ) Breakfast cost extra but well worth it.

I was blown away from the moment I got there till the moment I left. Mike and Andrea went above and beyond in everything they did and were always happy to make your trip even more special. We arrived at the accommodation and were blown away by the view and the beautiful building and grounds. We were greeted by our hosts and shown around the property, our room was really lovely and comfortable and spotless and then we offer an exceptional opportunity of being upgraded….which blow us away. We spent the afternoon having so much fun around the grounds, feeding the sheep and chickens and then into the games room before retiring back to the room to cook dinner. Next time I will definitely bring the swimwear, as the spa and pool had the most special view and you could spend hours taking in the spectacular view. We had a really peaceful sleep and woke the next morning to a delicious breakfast made by mike with lots of love and care…..Thanks Mike everyone really loved breakfast. They were delightful with the children and the kids had so much fun feeding the chickens and cutting flowers in the morning. I feel like we went there as guests and left as friends. Thanks so much Mike and Andrea for an amazing stay.

After a day of hitting some art spots at Whangārei, our family of two adults and a teen pulled into the Kauri Villas late in the afternoon. The first thing you'll notice is the amazing view of the coast. We were greeted by out hosts Andrea and Mike, and shown to our cottage, which was cute and clean. It was a Monday, and our hosts informed us that most of the local restaurants would be closed (it was also the off-season). Luckily, the cottage had a fully equipped kitchen, and the nearest grocery was 2 minutes down the road. The cottage even had a dishwasher, a real gem for any traveling cooks. That evening we helped ourselves to a hot tub/ jacuzzi and played some billiards in their "gameroom," which is really more of a beautiful bespoke barn with a sound system, nice lighting, and everything from ping pong to video games. We had a perfect family game night without leaving the property. We started off our first morning with a great breakfast cooked by Mike, and then used the villas as our home-base for hitting some of the great local hikes. On our second and last morning, we mentioned to Mike our fondness for the sheep that we could see from our bedroom window, and Mike offered to let us hand-feed them! As animal lovers, it as a treat to hand feed some adorable sheep that put up with us petting them. As travelers from the USA, a return to the Kauri Villas is probably not in the cards any time soon, but I would highly recommend this spot for both a quick vacation, or special event like a wedding where you want a fantastic location to celebrate. Great space, great hosts.
