We're checking out of the Valentin Somni Hotel tomorrow and just wanted to pop my review on while the thoughts are in my head. First Impressions: This hotel has recently been totally refurbished, and everything is spotlessly clean, tidy, modern, and fresh. We had a lovely warm welcome from Javier at reception for check-in, and the entrance lobby is vibrant and bright. If I were to improve anything about our welcome, it would be to offer to show guests around the hotel or take them up to their room. There were things we discovered late into our stay that we wish we had known when we had our first day here. Our room: We were given room 321, which is opposite the lift on the third floor, the same level as the roof terrace. We had a lovely big balcony space with two chairs, a table, and a deck bed which has a nice thick cushion and the bed is light weight enough to move it to where you need it to be. In the room itself, there was a kettle, mugs and cups and spoons, a fridge, a safe (€15 per week). There was a nice range of lighting options in the room, and the space itself is open, light, and modern. Observations: the bathroom element of the room is split into 3, you have a sink mirror and shelves in the main part of the room and then the shower and Loo are in separate cubicles which have frosted glass sections. Despite the fact that hubby and I have been together 15 years... I still can not go to the loo in front of him, which, with this particular setup, feels like you are doing. Every time I needed to go, I'd have to send him out to that balcony 🤣. Despite not feeling I had total privacy, this wasn't a deal breaker for me and hubby and I worked around it but if was to change any element of the hotel it would be to make the loo cubicle not framed in glass... frosted or not. The shower did not have a shelf, which would have been nice, but again, this isn't a deal breaker, just a would like to have. The beds are extremely comfortable, though it was two beds pushed together instead of a king or with a topper, so we didn't fall down the crack. Be warned, there is very little hanging storage and the hair dryer for us, was stored on a high shelf, as a short person I did not see we even had a hair dryer until the last day when we were packing our things. The TV had British TV channels such as ITV, BBC, and Channel 4. The plugs next to the bed do have a USB socket. There was a chair in the room. It would have been nice to have two. Food: The food has been amazing quality here, and out of the 7 nights we stayed here, we've eaten in nearly every night. The variety has been good, and there was a fresh cooking station at the end of the restaurant for both breakfast and the evening menu. There really is something for everyone. The staff: Simply wonderful, accommodated every request with a smile and so friendly even with my appalling attempt at speaking Spanish. Special thanks to Ivan, Rafa, Sebastion, Javier, and all the waiters, waitresses, cle
