The Pelican Beach Resort & Spa - Adults Only

We went for our honeymoon last week and stayed in room 4, a beautiful, luxury room in a beach front position. Wonderful views and lovely, friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us. A nice on site spa, Brilliant WI-FI throughout the site and powerful shower. They even gave us some extra treats as it was our honeymoon. Food was nice, quite posh but very tasty. A good variety for breakfast each day and good quality. However, It was rather disappointing that the hotel doesn’t offer any evening entertainment at all and the area of Pittulongu is very quiet around with a few small, quiet restaurants and so without a car, we found ourselves craving something more in the evenings. The lack of entertainment is the only reason I have given this 4 not 5. If there had been more to do, it would have been the perfect place. We did get the bus to Olbia which only costs €1.50 each way per person (last bus back is 19:36 though) and we went on an amazing all day, boat excursion to Tavolara on the Ottermare boat and saw dolphins and had several chances to swim in the beautiful turquoise crystal clear waters. The captain and his wife cooked us food and provided drinks and talked to us about the history and area. We attempted to get a taxi to Golfo Aranchi but they wanted €50 each way for a 10 min journey. So we sacked that idea off unfortunately. I would definitely recommend this hotel as the quality is very high, very clean rooms with cleaner service daily and wonderful staff but I would say, definitely hire a car so you can get out and explore.

Peccato per il posto perché è molto bello ma la cortesia nel non accettare bambini è stata bruttina, ancora più brutto è stato dover aspettare, come un ebrea ai tempi della guerra, fuori in spiaggia una colazione a portar via che è stata pessima. Se volete morire di fame vi metto anche la foto della mini pasta pagata come una pasta normale. Sono la prima che si scoccia con i bambini che fanno ****** ma non si può non accettarli per nulla dal momento che ci sono anche bambini educati che stanno al loro posto e soprattutto seguiti dai genitori. Una vergogna, abbiamo cambiato spiaggia e non torneremo più.

An update - after 6 months, many emails, photographic evidence and independent arbitration service - they have found Jet2 to be in breach of contract for selling this as a 4 star hotel. We have been vindicated - avoid this place at all costs. Lovely island - awful hotel.

On arrival we were greeted with an effluent pipe spewing onto the pavement - this was left uncleared for the duration of our stay. The main building has as much charm as a 1970’s multi story car park! We had to wait to check in as we had an early flight, though we’re able to change in what felt like a staff locker room. Eventually we were shown to our room which was adequate at best, the bathroom was the size of a cupboard with poor lighting, rusty fittings and dirty grout and the shower drain was blocked and took an age to empty. We heard what we thought was an alarm going off but soon realised it was the air conditioning unit. We raised this with reception who were dismissive and not at all interested. They said they would get an engineer the next day - we returned from a day out to find this had not happened - reception didn’t bother to tell us. I then escalated the matter to the Jet2 Holiday helper who took over 24 hours to respond and when she did turn up she was inept and of little use - other than clearly criticising in Italian, us for complaining. We had two sleepless nights and were eventually moved to another room with a quiet air conditioning system. The overall feel of the hotel is one of tiredness - lamps blown and not changed, stains on carpets in the hallways, rusty bathroom fittings and rusty balconies. The breakfast buffet is certainly not 4 star standard with mostly tinned fruit on offer and leftover vegetables from the previous nights dinner 🤮. The only cereals available are very high sugar content pre-packed and of poor quality. The only good thing about breakfast was the coffee, once you reached the front of the long queues to get to it. The pool area is small with just six sunbeds. The garden area is quite pleasant but as guests in the main block we are not allowed to use the sunbeds, though we could pay an additional 40.00 Euros to use the hotel sunbeds on the beach. At no time during the booking process with Jet2 was this made clear. Overall we are extremely disappointed with the hotel which at best is a 3 star. The restaurant and housekeeping staff are very pleasant. The reception staff less so - and once they realised we had left a review on Trip Advisor they made no effort whatsoever. If it were my choice alone we would have flown home rather than stay in this AWFUL hotel.
