Hotel Bahia Esmeralda

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Hotel Bahia Esmeralda. It was quiet and peaceful. The room was big and the kitchen was nicely stocked. I thought the breakfast was good and we ate breakfast every morning while staying there. We walked to a nearby beach, Playa Penca, and spent the day there. It took about 10 minutes to walk to this beach. I would stay here again.

Reminds me of Club Med 90s. Clean, vacation-oriented. Pool in middle of villas, which have kitchens. Lush landscaping. Breakfast option but the town has MANY choices next door and down the street. Beach is 2 blocks away. Villas 12 & 13 were as described: I had a studio. My sons were in he 2Br which also had an additional sleeper.

Check in at 2pm and check out at 11am, you lose basically one day, we requested to stay in gardens for at most 30 min and they said NO. The employees treatment was very cold and poor, not friendly at all. We felt like if they were giving us a favor for book their hotel

We rented the two bedroom bungalow and found it to be very comfortable, well equipped and spacious. The garden is lovely with lots of hummingbirds and flowers. The best part for us was Bahia, the cat. She is funny and smart and such a great comfort after losing our cat not so long ago. There is a beach near by and stores and restaurants. A good place if you don’t have a car.

Lovely rooms with a nice rustic feel and very clean. Powerful shower with hot water. The rooms are really fresh with good ceiling fans and air con. They keep their coolness when out and it's switched off too, which is a godsend after a day in the heat. Lovely well kept grounds and a nice warm pool, which was lovely to come back to after a day exploring. Decent breakfast included, we opted for the tipico breakfast, which set us up for the day. The only downfall for us was that the WiFi didn't reach our room. As we were travelling with a toddler we were in our room early each night and could really have done with it working in our room so we could research the local area etc at night. Instead we ended up having to do it during breakfast/by the pool, which wasn't ideal. The hotel location is great for exploring the local area. Playa Penca is within walking distance from the hotel, it's a beautiful beach. There's a few good sodas really close by, Soda Marcell, La Jama and Soda Maria Teresa. We enjoyed eating at them all and particularly liked the family who run Soda Maria Teresa. There is also a decent ice cream parlour around the corner and pizzeria with delicious pizzas (La Pizzetteria). Las Brisas bar on the beachfront is also a good spot for some drinks! We weren't around long enough to explore the other eateries on offer. There's also a mini supermarket close by for any essentials/snacks! We really enjoyed our short stay in the town and liked that the area the hotel is in hasn't been ruined by tourism and still has a local Costa Rican feel to it unlike some areas nearby. Gracias :-)

More than we could expected or dream for our trip to Costa Rica The kind team and installations are perfectly fitted to disconnect in Pura Vida way keeping all necessities covered. Will for sure see you again

The staff are very and accommodating. The rooms and grounds are immaculate. I was in the area on business so I chose a small but certainly adequate room. In my opinion the breakfast is very good. I need to start my day with a good cup of coffee and tasty breakfast and Bahia Esmeralda certainly delivered. The location is perfect as it is a very short walk to the beach and to several restaurants a nd coffee shop. I was very happy with my hotel and I will definitely return. I highly recommend this hotel!
