Upon entering my room, two things were noticed. First, ants all over the place. Second, the shower was absolutely filthy and black throughout the floor and walls. I had staff come to the room and address, which they did, but a) kept all my bags closed and did not unpack anything with the fear of the ants reappearing (and I was traveling through the country and did not want to risk ants infiltrating my belongings and b) made me question the last time that bathroom was really cleaned. I made it clear at that point that I was not happy. They had no other rooms to move me to (it is a small hotel, I get that). We had to leave very early in the morning to get the ferry and no one was working the front desk when we left. I wrote to them after I left asking if there were any discounts that could be applied given the state of the room and having to keep everything packed. I was told “we cannot give you back the amount of your stay, also because at the time of settlement at check out you did not mention your unpleasant stay at all, you also used all the hotel services such as breakfast, overnight stay and swimming pool.” They said that if my stay was not to my liking they would have definitely applied a discount. I’m sorry. What part of a room infested with ants and a completely disgusting shower does not indicate the stay was not to my liking? And yes, I used the pool and had breakfast - and wanted to be outside of the room as much as possible. They finally agreed to a future discount, but I will not be returning there and I will not be recommending it to friends.
