The hotel all in all was great. The staff were kind and accommodating. The room I booked(423) was a junior suite. But it had this funny smell when coming into the room. But it was nice and spacious and had a really expansive bathroom. We switched to the room opposite (401) and it had a great sea view. Especially love the curtains surrounding the bedroom area! And the blackout curtains were great if you want to sleep in. The bathroom in this room was not as large as the previous room but it was charming. The breakfast buffet had a lot of choices. But if you want hot food you need to pay extra. The air conditioning was not up to par with what I expected. It only goes down up to 22.5 and for me that’s still warm to have a cozy night’s dream. But that’s just me. It’s near the high street and the famous gelato shop! They do have siestas so most of the shops are closed from 3-7 pm. Try the ADDUMA restaurant near the hotel. It’s fantastic! The hotel’s restaurant looks fabulous during the night. And you can go out to the terrace and enjoy the wonderful sea view with night lights lovingly encompassing the Lungomare Falcomata.

The Grand Hotel was exceptional. The rooms were spacious and attractive. The selection of toiletries was the best we have ever seen. The hotel was just across from the museum. We had both an enjoyable dinner and breakfast at the restaurant.

Dark furniture, silk fabric on the walls, crisp white bed linen, but worn off towels and excellent service, that’s what we found here. Once you get to it, which isn’t easy, giving the chaotic nature of driving in Reggio, as in every other Italian city, they will park your car in their garage (€12 extra), send ice to your room upon request and make you reservation for dinner in the place of your choice, having recommended their own panoramic roof top restaurant, Gala (separate review). All in all a rather successful experience. **

The main desk person made me 2 americanos even though his English and my Italian were soso. He even pushed the elevator buttons to my floor. Above and beyond!!! It’s a very nice boutique hotel and the restaurant was also great

The hotel is right across from the reggio calabria lido train station. Very pleasant in lobby and nice rooms. Restaurant on 5th floor has great views from restaurant inside or outside. Highly recommend. Staff very friendly. English language a little iffy. Other restaurants, shops and gelato in walking distance.

Seeing Riace Warriors has been on my bucket list for 30 years. While I have visited Italy for many years, this was my first trip to Calabria. I booked Hotel Excelsior due to the close proximity to the Archeological Museum, and I could not have made a better choice. The Riace Bronzes are incredible but so are the views from Hotel Excelsior. The hotel staff were warm, welcoming, kind and considerate. The "French Bed" room had a beautiful view and was very clean and comfortable. The Breakfast had plenty of options and I dined at the restaurant each evening. Perfect. I spent 3 glorious days in Calabria and returned to Rome refreshed and delighted with my choice. I will be a frequent return guest to Grand Hotel Excelsior.

Great location with parking d parking available. Rooms were clean but dated. Restaurant has lovely views but food was just ok especially considering the prices. The attitude of the front desk staff left a lot to be desired. Overall for the price it was just ok.

Personale professionale e cordiale. Pulizia impeccabile. Camera molto ampia e letto king, com arredo solido e comodo, ancorché un po' fané. Prodotti da bagno a disposizione per ogni necessità. Purtroppo la posizione sul retro non ha permesso di vedere il mare, ma la sede di un partito. La colazione nell'attico ha una varietà e una una qualità tra le migliori che abbia mai provato. Perfetta la posizione.

Siamo stati nei giorni tra novembre e dicembre a Reggio Calabria e non ci poteva essere soggiorno migliore se non al Grand Hotel Excelsior. Da quando siamo entrati, grazie alla maestria nonché esperienza del Direttore, con la Reception tutta a totale e completa disposizione, è stato un piacere senza fine. Camera da letto con uno spazio salotto perfetto, bagno e doccia comodi e spaziosi, puliti ed ordinati da un personale evidentemente impeccabile. Ciliegina sulla torta la terrazza con vista Lungomare/Stretto/Sicilia/Etna semplicemente mozzafiato. Ogni colazione, pranzo e cena possono aggiungere alla qualità e varietà della cucina, questa emozione da godere come la nuotata fatta grazie alle temperatura primaverile anche il 30 novembre. Le nosTRE 3 gemelline, fra lo spazio immenso della hall, della camera e della terrazza stesse, non volevano più andare via se non con la promessa e speranza di ritornarci al più presto possibile...
