Une chambre (appartement) correcte sans ostentation mais très propre. Repas à la brasserie (alors que la réservation avait été faite pour le restaurant) : personnel en salle désagréable dans une ambiance maison de repos ou cantine ! Vient le pire : le petit-déjeuner servi à partir de 7 h. Nous nous y rendons vers 9h. Surprise : plus de pain, plus de salade de fruits, plus de fromage, plus de jus de fruit, machine a café en panne. Les clients attendent ... en vain. Nous quittons cet "hôtel" bien vite .

6 nights There were multiple problems with the room - fridge and phone were not working, toiletries were not replenished, old small bath towels were not replaced. The front desk staff doesn’t allow to speak directly with the manager. The restaurant staff is rude, unfriendly and not professional. At the end I was told that I can leave any review and it means nothing to this hotel. I travel a lot and I do not remember when I was so frustrated by the attitude and unfriendliness. I would never consider this hotel in my travel plans.

Beautiful hotel with a taste of a sports lodge. Rooms are modern, spacious , and feel newly renovated with woody motif. The beds are comfortable. Breakfast is included. There is a swimming pool and sauna.I did not care for the two included dinners. Breakfast was great. We are her for the Passion play which occurs one a decade. The area is beautiful and I asymmetric there are four season activities.

Nice hotel in a small and quiet town near many beautiful attractions. It was nice small town to stay for several days. Our room was really big and quiet with really nice beds. I really liked the bathrobes offered as the pool area was in every day use. Nice hotel to stay with kids. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The staff was kind and helpful. Also it was nice that there was restaurants in the hotel.

Ettal as an area doesn’t have a lot to offer. We wanted to go up the tallest mountain in Germany and this was a convenient stop over hotel for that purpose. as the drive to the mountain wasn’t far. The hotel is fairly large but rather dated inside. The young lady on reception was cheerful and her English wasn’t too bad and she tried to help us. However, on the first night we ate in their restaurant and the servers spoke no English, no menus in English and were fairly unhelpful The food was pretty average. The hotel has a small bar near reception but everyone seems to drink outside the front of the hotel where the public can come in also. The room was big and comfortable but the whole a**osphere of the hotel is it needs a refurbish.

We stopped at this hotel as part of an organized tour. It is close to Oberammergau, where we attended a performance of “The Passion Play.” Klosterhotel Ettal—Ludwig der Bayer is a large hotel with quiet, wide but gloomy halls. The rooms are spacious and clean, furnished in a simple but comfortably acceptable style. The buffet breakfast is great: a wide variety to choose from. Directly across the road is the beautiful Baroque Benedictine monastery that gives the hotel its name. I would stop here again if ever in the region. The hotel must be abuzz with skiers come winter.

Beautiful Bavarian hotel nestled in the Alps and across the street from a charming abbey. Very quaint and generously sized room in traditional wood. A bit loud at times but not excessive. Many large groups were there as we all were seeing the Passion Play. They did a great job of serving everyone and the dining room was well organized. Staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast included many tasty choices, fresh juices and endless coffee or tea. If going to the Play, get a specific time for the shuttle bus. It only left at 12. We were under the impression there were others to follow as the Play did not begin until 1:30pm. We missed the shuttle and had to take a cab. I think they are most familiar with large groups who know the bus schedule.

Stayed for 3 nights, part of family trip to Oberammergau/Ettal area. We had 2 apar**ent units (Margarete 2) in the block at the back which overlooks the gorgeous mountain and valley. I could sit there whole day enjoying the view while sipping Riesling. Breakfast spread pretty good, especially the croissant. Nice setting indoor. While outdoor setting is cosy and refreshing. This feels like the perfect idyllic base to explore the region. Hotel is just opposite the Ettal Abbey, which is the pilgrim institution for centuries since 1300. We drove to Fussen for the castles. Then to Innsbruck, just one hr drive across the Alpine range in country roads. Oberammergau was especially crowded while we were there due to the once-a-decade Passion Play (delayed from 2020 due to COVID). Oberammergau just 5min away! So Ettal is a great quiet place.

Reception friendly and efficient. Clean hotel. Parking behind the hotel on the courtyard, a small part of the places in front of the hotel. Two restaurants connected to the hotel. Breakfast reasonably good.
