I would only recommend this lodging, (since it’s not an Airbnb, a hotel or a bed and breakfast) for its location in respect to restaurants, transportation and banks. When I arrived, I was met with a distasteful reaction after the “private transfer” from the airport was not present when I arrived. This was not a free transfer and I was expected to pay $55 but when I exited the airport, the driver was not present with my name held-up at 7:45am, as promised. I waited and even called the driver but there was no response so I decided to take a minivan taxi. That was the first inconvenience and when I arrived the owner seemed to be upset with me (or her reaction made it seem that way) after I provided all my arrival details. Secondly, I was provided 5 keys for access to the building. However, for two of the doors, i had a problem exiting and entering. Simple communication could have fixed that problem as I never expected that that would have been an issue, but clearly, I may have been the first individual that had this problem. Regardless, her reaction was not normal or acceptable for a proprietor of this type of business. Let me continue, I went out and returned late and found myself not able to enter one the doors to get in, I didn’t even know that the door was there since it was not visible to me during the morning and early afternoon. I struggled and was panicking and clearly it seemed that I may have been using the incorrect key but there were also two to three different locks on the door. I tried calling inside but I had no other way of reaching the owners. I understand that It was late, and I am very respectable were I would never try to interrupt someone at that time, but I had no other option since it was my first night at a strange location. I rang another door and it seemed to be the owner. She opened the door and I was surprised at her harsh and disgruntled behavior. I was shocked. She proceeded to reprimand me about the time, which apologetically, I knew was late, but regardless, it was not an acceptable behavior for an owner of a guest lodging. Something worse could have happened which affected my access to the building and this is behavior that I would have been met with?? Or not met with since, there is is now to contact the owner at a certain time since the front desk is closed at a certain time. This has never happened to me before, and I have stayed in many different places and was never met with such poor and disrespectful customer service, but I also understood for her inconvenience. However, in such a business, you have to know how to better react to the highs and lows and it seems like she doesn’t want to be bothered too much. This can be a teachable moment for myself included. Cleaning in the rooms occur in the mornings and if you sleep late you may want to tell her in advance because there is no”disturb sign” to put outside the door and they may proceed to enter.
