Consort Hotel

We arrived as a family of 7 quite late at night following a wedding nearby. One of our rooms did not have an additional bed in the room as booked and required. This was easily rectified when the receptionist was notified as she swiftly arranged a bed to be erected and made up. In our other room the toilet had quite a significant leak when it was flushed. So bad the leak reached the bedroom carpet. Staff were obviously aware as a towel had already been placed on the u bend to stem the leak - this did nothing in my opinion. Given the lateness of the hour we had no intention of moving for a leaky toilet we just refrained from unnessary flushing and put some towels down. We did notify the receptionist/housekeeper when she was making the bed in the other room though and she was apologetic. We opted to have a drink in the empty bar before settling down for the night and was served by the same lady. Unfortunately the draft beer was not at all nice - not to sure why but my husband drank less than half before he'd had enough. Turns out it was a one women show - receptionist, housekeeping and bar tending were all done by the same lady within an hour. She was very attentive and apologetic for the issues experienced. This hotel could really use some TLC - the carpets are stained infact a stain on our room floor was sticky. It is very outdated and not particularly homely or inviting. There is too much furniture in the rooms or at least not set out very well. Also, no one should have to ask for extra pillows - of the 7 of us there were exactly 7 pillows. I checked every cupboard and none were hidden away - we had to ask the lady for 4 more pillows which I found very strange. None of the TVs worked either - the room TV had no channels programmed in and the bar TV only showed channel 4. Needless to say we wouldn't return.

Awful experience. Planned a visit to Rotherham to see some friends for 23rd July. Booked and paid via phone and all was confirmed: £67. Cheap and cheerful. Arrived on 23rd of July to a very rude receptionist who advised I had turned up on the wrong day! They had booked me in for the wrong date. With no empathy I was offered a “free drink in the bar” whilst they looked into it. They had no spare rooms available and didn’t make any effort whatsoever to try and resolve this. Casually pretending to call other hotels to satisfy my stay. Nothing was resolved so was advised I would receive a FULL REFUND the following day. My bank details were provided. Fast forward two weeks later and I called to find out where my refund was. The response was “oh sorry your bank details must have been thrown away by the cleaner”. So not only are they incompetent but they’ve left my personal information out on some random desk somewhere. They took my bank details again and advised it would be done first thing in the morning. This was Thursday the 4th of August. Today, still no refund and now 18 days after my original promise of a refund. Attempted to call again and now I’m just having the phone hung up on me. Avoid!

One star is too high. Truly awful. Awful rude manager, disillusioned staff who are past caring, dirty, doesnt feel safe, sticky filthy carpets, Food was awful and when complained told it was freshly cooked yesterday! Honestly dont bother its cheap for a reason.

Due to the fact of having to flee the hotel at midnight as someone gave a man a key to my room. This is dangerous and as a single woman I was petrified. I fled the hotel and drove home at midnight after a man tried to enter my room twice with a key! The staff need training. No one has a clue what they are doing. It’s dark and dirty. The cupboard in my room was full of dirty bedding thrown on the floor and a stained ancient ironing board. The bathroom smelt of smoke, the bed and pillows were the un comfiest I have ever experienced. The white towels were grey and rough. On a positive the chef can cook! This hotel is listed 3 star. I’m My advice is this is worse than any hostel. The worst place I have ever encountered Do not stay here!!

We’re do we start just avoid at all costs I was there less than 2 hours and that was more than enough for me🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢🤢it’s dirty it smells I walked out lost our money but I would rather sleep in car there is just no words This place used to be a really nice clean hotel them days are long gone I’m afraid

PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL especially room 205!!! Most definitely the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Our room was absolutely disgustingly filthy. I suggest that whoever has the job of cleaning this room be sacked immediately as they have not done the job they are being paid to do. Everything had a layer of thick dust. The bed sheet had numerous stains, so I remade the bed and turned the sheet upside down, only to discover yet another big stain! The fabric chair at the desk was literally covered in numerous dirty marks. The bathroom taps, plug, of which the chain had snapped, bath panel, shower head were covered in dirt. The radiator in the bathroom had thick dust behind it and on the control, and was really badly rusted. The folding shower screen did not reach the side of the bath and so after using the shower the whole bathroom floor was swimming in water which I then had to try and mop up as best as I could. The shower hose was almost snapped off near the shower head which probably contributed to a poor flow of water coming from it. The hook on the bathroom door needed fixing as it was swinging around. The fan in bathroom didn't work to remove steam. The light above my bed was not fixed properly to the wall and we could see the wall plugs and the wires, and it too was thick with dust. Previous damage to the door to the room had been badly repaired by what looked like a toddler and looked a right mess. The chain on the door did not work as part of it was missing and it didn't even reach the slot. The wallpaper had a rip in it and dirty marks all over. The flush on the toilet fell off but we managed to put it back on. There was only one flat pillow each so I'm glad I took my own. Oh and I found sock under the desk left by a previous guest. One really dangerous thing was a sharp metal spike sticking out of the skirting board, don't know what it was but it could do some serious injury if you caught your leg on it! Another dangerous thing I noted was in the corridor outside my room the carpet was sticking up and when I investigated I could pick up quite a chunk of ripped carpet, so it is a potential trip hazard. I could not wait to leave this place and will never set a foot back here. I suggest the Consort hire a decent handy man and a professional cleaner to sort this out as soon as possible. I read the other comments prior to my visit but didn't take too much notice of the negative ones and thought they were just being over dramatic as some were saying it was clean. Believe me they were not!!

When we arrived we were welcomed my a friendly reception, once in our room we noticed we had a double bed when we requested two singles, it was no problem for them and was soon rectified, and and addition single bed added, we had a lovely nights sleep in comfortable beds, we arrived late but the bar was open, bonus! The only thing I would say is the rooms need an update with new carpets too, it was a relief it was also dog friendly, another bonus, also very affordable.

Should be shut down room stinking and beds had been slept in . I did not stay walked out and lost my money . I didn't expect much but I'd rather sleep on a park bench. Not fit for a dog just cannot describe what it was like never in my life seen anything like it
