The Ship Inn Lerryn

We arrived at 3pm after a walk and asked if they were serving. The waiter said no but landlady said yes; I think this confused or annoyed him. There was a very stressed young waitress who looked very anxious. 40 mins later we were going to ask on an update when we noticed the young lady looking worried and clearly talking about our table. The waiter chap kept shrugging his shoulders as though it wasnot his problem. Eventually the food arrived minus any cutlery. When I requested cutlery the young waitess literally slammed five sets of knives and forks down. There was a very awkward silence from us and I considered leaving right there. It was shocking . The child's veggy plate when it arrived consisted of four pieces of parsnip and two roast potatoes. I was flabbergasted and requested a Yorkshire pudding. No veggy gravy was offered. The others had beef which they all very much enjoyed. The food was delicious; the service abysmal . Whilst we appreciate it was later on a Sunday and staff may be tired; we were treated indifferently and the waitress was very rude. We paid the same as folk coming in when the staff were fresh so should have been treated way way better. We think she may have been grumpy because of lack of support from other staff or it may have been her first day; either way it was not something we should have been aware of or concerned about. In summary our experience was the food was delicious though not veggy friendly and the service was alfal. If you like nice food and rude staff you'll love it; if not roll the dice.

Can't wait to go back, great atmosphere, lovely food and friendly helpful staff, great selection of beers and largers, what a beautiful spot on the river 😀 canoeing paddle boarding, lovely walks along the river and up into the woods.

All food was cold. Came in first but other table of what we suspect were regulars had their order taken first and food served first. Understaffed - unforgiveable. Not fair on staff or customers. When spoke to the staff about the problem and just got so much attitude.

We were on holiday here and was told this place was really family friendly so we thought we would give it a go. To be fair it was friendly, but the food was the worst I've ever tasted. DO NOT ORDER A ROAST. The potatoes were definitely frozen, the veg was disgusting and the meat ( pork) tasted like it had been reheated a few times. We should have realised when we saw so much on the menu especially on a sunday. It was so over priced aswell. ( i don't mind paying more if the quality is there) I wish we just had a pasty and sat by the river. Definitely won't be returning, its such a shame because its in such a lovely area. The place is great as a pub, but dont touch the food, the shop around the corner does great cakes and great ice cream which we loved.

A lovely little pub in beautiful surroundings. One of us had chicken, chorizo and butter bean stew ( word of warning, ver y spicy) and the other had steak and kidney pie. Good sized portions and well cooked. Friendly service. Will return should we be in the area again.

After a customary Sunday walk along the river with the dogs (also welcome in the pub ) we went to the Ship for lunch, Lovely food, well kept choice of beer. friendly staff with particular thanks to Rosie for efficient and professional service. Cheers Ian.

Fabulous curry ( normal pub food available as well) , great service and reasonably priced- what’s not to like. The village is also pretty and although the pub is quite small from the front it is slightly bigger than you would think with a conservatory and small beer garden. But the curries are awesome -just needs more naan

Visited here 3 times during our holiday to Lerryn. This was a good local pub with good food, friendly staff and great location. We were served on all 3 visits by Rosie who was so chatty we felt like we had known her for ages and had a good banter with her. Would certainly recommend the "Shipherds" Pie. Lovely comforting food. Would certainly visit her again. Thank you for making us feel welcome From the lady in pink :-)

Was staying in Lerryn for a couple of days , had a meal at the Ship on the first night and that was ok , drinks the second night. Good local pub.. but I just want to give E mention to Michelle behind the bar . What a breath of fresh air .. talked to me by name on both visits and was both courteous and efficient, made me feel welcome and not just another tourist .. lovely 😊 x
