Avis : The Pack Horse

Owner refuses to sort refund and ignores customers. BEWARE. Firstly the Packhorse Inn was wrongly listed on Googlemaps as been in Northumberland. We made several calls to the Packhorse about the refund and each time the owner was unavailable. I was given his email but again no response from him. We have made 8 calls to the packhorse and the staff simply say the owner is unavailable. He has also been given my number but again no response. Philip is allegedly is in good health and seems to be too busy trying to run another pub!

Visited for food this evening on recommendation, so glad we did! Love the make-over, a warm welcome, friendly and informal, typical village pub atmosphere and a simple yet balanced menu. We sat in the Snug, a quiet little room off the main bar area, intimate and cosy, it was warm and perfect for an evening meal away from the hustle of the main bar area. Portions are huge! On reflection I wish I missed the starter to enjoy the main course of chicken and chorizo tagliatelle in full. Our meals were superbly presented, sensibly priced with excellent portion sizes. Well worth a visit if you’re local or visiting

I am the ex manager at this pub.when I had an issue will my mental health they processed to sack me when I was still in hospital. They then manipulated my partner into running the pub on her own.people like this need to be stopped because they are no good for local communities. These people are totally driven by monetary means and don't care about anyone but themselves. Don't support them.

New managers took over and the food just got excellent. Had tapas and it was beautifully cooked. Best calamari I've had since I lived in Greece! Actual melt in the mouth. First time I've not felt ripped off for food in a long time, a decent portion for a decent price. The meat platter had lovely slices of meat and tasty olives. Good beer too.

Fantastic food and service was A*, very friendly and welcoming. The Guinness soda bread was amazing and seafood chowder Was the best i have tasted. Chicken supreme, hallumi burger, mushroom bourguignon and brie starters was fab too. Will be back again for sure.

So we didn't actually get to stay in our room, as ******* messed up our booking (just book direct!), but the manager made sure we were sorted somewhere else and we still ate here. Food was fab, decent prices, healthy portions and the staff were very friendly. We will have to return to see the rooms next time, would definitely recommend!

Visited here during a cycle trip with friends - staff were incredibly helpful, warm and accommodating and the food was truly delicious. A great selection of food, cooked to impeccable standards, with a warm, charming atmosphere. Highly recommend!

I spend 75% of the year in various hotels due to work/travel and this one is one of the best i have stayed in... it has large spacious rooms with coffee and tea, all for a cheap price with amazing food to order and very friendly staff and atmosphere. I will definitely come again.

Went for a walk in South Brent with my little Dog, I saw the Packhorse was doing a Sunday roast, they said they had a vegetarian option, so I decided to have a meal, it was really lovely and very tasty, and the staff are all very nice also it was friendly, relaxed and welcoming, will go back again.

Very nice restaurant section to the pub recently opened. Good variety of food. Starters were delicious. I had salmon parcels and my girlfriend the Brie. Would highly recommend. My girlfriend had lasagne for main which was well cooked and very tasty. I had the seafood linguine which was not hot and sauce was very bland and quite watery. The fish itself was nicely cooked however but unfortunately left too long before being served. The staff were excellent and very attentive and overall it was a very good eating experience.

We dropped in for lunch after voting in the general election. This is just what South Brent needs. A separate dining area so we weren't in the middle of a busy bar. Excellent food. Friendly, prompt service. Good prices. We shall visit again - perhaps for an evening meal next time.

We are visiting from Canada and spent a week in South Brent On our walk one day we seen the sign advertising Tapas We booked for 7 of us And had a wonderful meal of 9 shared plates Everyone of us was raving how great it was The staff so friendly we even had two visits by the chefs to see how we were enjoying the menu !! Highly recommend this pub for friendliness drinks And amazing food

We are locals to the pub and despite it only being in Tripadvisor as a hotel it is a great village pub serving delicious food (both lunchtime and evenings). Recently under new management, we visited tonight for food and cannot recommend it enough. The Seafood chowder was literally to die for and everything else our party ate was delicious too. I can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu and wish the new managers great success in keeping our lovely village pub alive.

The pictures on the website were nothing like what we saw when we arrived. Room was okay. The room was not worth what we paid. They charged us the old owners prices which was more than their current prices. We stayed in a city centre hotel which was nicer the following couple of nights and cost less. Staff were nice. Bar meal was okay. Will not go back.
