Areela Boutique Hotel

I spent two weeks travelling in Albania and this hotel stands out for the poor experience I had. The reservation was for a king-size bed, which turned out to be a double. I had written ahead of time to find out about transportation from the airport, but never received an answer. The AC unit in my room leaked terribly (in very hot summer weather) and I had to insist three times to get a bucket to contain the water. When the repair man came, he wasn't able to fix it and left the ladder in the middle of room. I later received a call at MIDNIGHT to ask if another repair man could enter the room. When I pointed out the hour, I was made to feel bad and let the man in, who was still unable to fix the unit. My friend who came in on a different flight, was told a driver (arranged by the hotel) would be waiting at the airport, but no driver was sent and the hotel simply said that "this sometimes happens." When I asked for a blanket - I was told that they did not provide additional linens. I was supposed to stay an additional night here at the end of my stay, but my flight was changed to a day earlier. I asked if it would be possible to change my reservation as well - but never received a reply from the manager (who was absent the whole time) and ended up booking at another hotel and losing the money from this reservation. The only good thing about the stay was the breakfast, which was not included and I had to pay additional for.

It didn't start well when I was shown a room much smaller than the one that I had booked. When I complained I was told that I would need to wait for my room to be cleaned. I had booked a city view room but there was no view of the city at all but rather a back street. The stairs to the room from the reception are very steep and no help was offered. The bed was very comfortable and the room was a decent size. Breakfast is very poor with no choice. You get what you're given. The hotel is very well situated and about a 10 minutes walk to SkandSkanderbeg Square. Although the staff are friendly the fact that they had not given me the room I had paid for did leave a bitter taste and had I been staying more than one night I would have complained more.

It was such an amazing journey. All the staff are very kind and polite. Especialy the morning shift reception who also serves our breakfast is very kind, professional , and help us a lot with much information about the city. Keep up the good job. Amazing decoration of hotel , love it ＜3

At first sight it looks nice, but let me tell you something about the room. The room was dirty, first thing i noticed were the used contactlenses still lying there and also the shower was invested with hairs of the previous guests, thewhen you take a shower the water runs out into the room causing the floor crack.. The room is located in a claustrophobic basement with the windows welded shut, and lies beneath a cafe, so you can hear the people above you starting around 6:30 in the morning dragging the chairs around the terrace. Worst experience in a hotel so far. The breakfast and the coffee was nice and the personnel at the frontdesk was very friendly.

At check-in I was given a smaller room than the one I had booked. The receptionist insisted that it was the room I had booked. After a lot of discussions and showing them the description and photos of the room I’ve booked in the reservation site, he finally acknowledged it. Then he claimed they were over booked and the only thing they could do was give me a “discount”. This was basically a refund, as the room I was allocated was cheaper than the one I booked. Wifi connection is very poor and I couldn’t do streaming. TV did not work the first day, but it was later fixed. Breakfast was ok for one or two days, then it would get boring as there is no choice. Location is Ok, less than 10 min walk from the main square. With all the hotels available in Tirana and with similar prices I wouldn’t bother to book in Areela.

I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights, it's a very good small hotel located in a side way in a residential area, although it might look a little bit scary at night but it's ok, it's a boutique hotel in the first floor of a rather old building. The guys in the reception are a true asset to the hotel, they are friendly, polite, always smiling, really helpful, can give you suggestions on places to visit and speak good English. The nice lady doing the housekeeping everyday is doing her job perfectly. The room size is ok with air-condition and a tiny bathroom. The decoration and the style of the hotel is amazing, I really liked it. Breakfast is included and it is very good including bread, butter, jam, cheese, ham, pastry , juice , fruit and coffee, although it is the same everyday but enough to start your day. I would like to mention two points; first they don't have a safe in the rooms, second they don't provide a shower gel for the bathroom toiletries only shampoo.

I have stayed here for one night, but I made an idea about it. Firstly, the hotel is situated in a block of flats (the entire 1st floor). A very old building, surrounded by narrowed and noisy roads. It was a bit difficult to find the entrance. Some locals indicated it to us. The reception was very nice, the young man from the reception was very kind, he solved the Internet problems. The room (nr 201) was a triple bed, quite nice and clean. It has a big balcony. The bathroom is tiny, but clean. The breakfast was amazing and the woman working in the reception served us very fast. All the staff was smiling, even the cleaning lady. They helped us with the taxi and stored our luggage for a couple of hours. The negative part is the next to the hotel there is a working area, building a new block of flats. At 7 am the noise started and we couldn't sleep anymore. The area where the hotel is situated seems a bit scary, I felt unsafe on the streets.
