Booked a room for myself, my sister, my niece & my mum as attending a concert at OVO. Convenient location, cheap parking, comfy bed, clean room and that’s where it ends. The girl on reception on arrival didn’t break a smile or make us feel welcome, could have been a robot for all we knew. The room was roasting hot and pretty unbearable. Desk lamp didn’t work & the plug socket beside it worked once to heat the kettle then never worked again. You need strong thumbs/fingers to flush the. toilet. It took a few attempts to gain success. A large group of guests with kids were really noisy until after midnight, kids running about and slamming doors and the group all talking loudly. Not the fault of the hotel but annoying non the less. The early morning ‘Wake up’ from the member of staff crashing a trolley with crockery into something, maybe a wall …was just wonderful at 5.30. At breakfast in the morning we sat at a smaller table with 3 chairs & pulled a 4th chair over from a very small table with 3 chairs. We fetched hot drinks and food items which we placed on our table and on our return from getting cutlery we watched a rather grumpy male employee pull the 4th chair away. We explained that we were a party of 4 (2 were on their way) and we didn’t want to take up the big table for 8 that was available. He simply said ‘move to that table’ gesturing to the very large table, and then stood and watched myself and My 82 year old mother carry our food, drinks, bags, cardigans etc to the Huge Table. I honestly hope that he is getting paid the bare minimum to ‘work’ there and I heavily suspect that he NEVER gets any tips! Actually the only tip that I wanted to give him was….. ‘ how about smile, do your job, have some manners and learn how to behave around paying customers’ … what an unpleasant start to our day to be treated so disgustingly. On returning to our room after breakfast none of our card keys were working so we had to return to reception … we were told by other guests that if you held the key near your Phone it cancelled it. We were never told this by staff. Only our arrival to reception we had a long al wait for service as the one member of staff was covering reception and breakfast … she was clearly so overworked that she had left the till open leaving a fair amount of money available for a dishonest person to help themselves to!! The family waiting ahead of us commented to her when she eventually arrived that she should feel lucky that we were all honest folk. Would I stay here again ??? Only if it were the last place available and I was DESPERATE to see a show and this was the deciding factor. The one real positive was a delightful member of staff who was sitting in the reception area when we arrived .. she was happy smiling, engaging and when we were discussing b how my niece who suffers very bad panic attacks, was not comfortable with the lifts (which is the only method of getting in or out of the hotel or Indeed to your room or r
