Ivythwaite Lodge Guest House

What a fantastic B&B tucked away on a back road. Located in between Bowness and Windermere, 20 minute walk to either place, so excellent location and back from the main road so there’s no noise at all. We stayed in one of the superior rooms which had plenty of space, large 4 poster bed, spa bath, comfortable mattress, tea and coffee making facilities (with cafetière), fridge and bay window. There were extra tea/coffee portions available between the rooms and the hosts were always happy to provide anything else you required. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. Plenty of choice and you could choose to eat in the dining room for it, or have a tray delivered to your room. Ingredients were excellent and variety was ample with my partner even saying that the waffles with fruit was one of the best breakfasts she ever had! Finally the hosts: Andrew and Abigail were extremely nice. You could tell they took pride in what they do and the experience they want to offer. Nothing was too much trouble, always happy to help and offer advice on places to go and tips on eateries. Abigail clearly enjoys her baking as they pride themselves on most things being home baked - great tasting muffins, rolls etc. The people really do make the place. Well done!

What a wonderful place, very friendly couple running a beautiful holiday getaway. Bedroom was very comfortable with everything you’d ever need. Fabulous 4 poster bed. Breakfasts super scrummy and filling. Great location for Windermere and Fells. Will definitely be back. Thank you 5 stars

Beautiful setting in quiet street close to Windermere and Bowness. We had a lovely room with mini fridge and well stocked tray of goodies including delicious home made lemon drizzle cake. Our bed was very comfortable and we really enjoyed total relaxation. Breakfast on both mornings was truly superb. Everything piping hot and well presented. Our hosts were on hand and lovely giving helpful advice. Thoroughly recommend Ivythwaite; attention to detail was so lovely. Thank you.

Beautiful, spotless room with a comfy, spacious bed! Gorgeous spa bath! Abigail and Andrew were so welcoming and accommodating The breakfast was beautiful on both mornings, first day we chose to eat in the dining room for a full English and the second day we opted for room service. There was plenty of choice! The gardens are absolutely wonderful! Only a short walk to the lakes and there’s a pub just a 2 minute walk away Thank you so much for such a relaxing 30th birthday weekend 😊

Ivythwaite Lodge is an amazing stay - can’t recommend it enough. Abigail and Andrew were extremely attentive hosts, they had an amazing selection of vegan breakfast options that were absolutely delicious, and Abigail made a vegan cupcake for me everyday. The location is perfect for exploring Windermere and the Lake District. The room was wonderful and we really enjoyed the spa bath too. Looking forward to our next stay!

Stayed here for 7 nights in The Cranny cottage next to the main house.What a perfect cottage and it had everything you wanted for your self catering holiday.The gardens which you have access to are well kept and the location is midway between Bowness and the town of Windermere.We had fresh muffins left for us on arrival plus tea,coffee,milk and sugar (Nice Touch) A great place to stay and Abigail & Andrew were brilliant hosts.

We were greeted by Andrew, (one of the owners) who explained how we ordered breakfast. Then given our key to room 3, it was lovely ensuite, tv, tea/coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board. We had a lovely 4 poster bed for our 5 night stay. We wanted for nothing, breakfasts were simply amazing nothing was too much trouble for Abigail/Andrew. Abigail even lent us a map for our walk up to Bowness View the view from the top was breathtaking. We were between Windermere and Bowness which was good form exploring either of them. Definitely stay again, many thanks to our hosts Andrew and Abigail who made it home from home.

Stayed 3 nights, very comfortable, very clean, very convenient location. Very quiet. Breakfast all home made including the bread,plenty of choice. Bathroom toiletries really nice. Everything good quality. Plenty of tea/coffee’s, small fridge. Drinks and cakes. Would stay again

Ivythwaite is an amazing place to stay. Abigail and Andrew are super hosts, friendly and really helpful. The breakfast was delicious. We loved the attention to detail and the obvious care and pride they have in their guesthouse. It’s also in an excellent location .
