These slides are awesome. Zipping down Seward Street Slides' cement tubes made me feel like a kid again. What a super fun thing to do during an afternoon in SF. Helpful Tip: Bring cardboard with you and closed toe shoes (so your feet don't get sandy when you dismount)!
I always wondered how they enforced the 5pm curfew on these slides.. Turns out that they put a series of gates so there is no sneaking in to go down the slides... When it is closed.. It is closed. But don't let that discourage you.. Its still fun to check out and you can get a cool view.. Plus kite hill open space is just down the street!
These are concrete slides in a little park called Seward Park. They're free and fun, but make sure to take some cardboard to use for the slides, otherwise, your jeans/pants/legs will not be that grateful.
Feeling the need for speed? And good ol' fashioned fun? How about a set of secret slides, hidden above the Castro? Bring a piece of cardboard (or you can usually find one lying about) and hightail it down the dual slides as fast as you can.
I was lucky enough to move right onto Seward St., but if you're not so lucky, just climb uphill from the Castro station and check out these awesomely dangerous slides.
