First time visiting Seattle and this is a great museum with local artists. Plus it is free admission. I love the inclusivity in artist work displayed.
The Frye Art Museum is my favorite art museum in Seattle. It is always free year-round though I always contribute a few bucks to help support their expenses or purchase one of the many great art books from the giftshop as compensation. The Frye features a rotating display of breath-taking pre-Raphaelite art with portraits, landscapes and very large still life pieces. My favorite artist of the collection is William-Adolphe Bouguereau-his stunning portraits are the reason I visit the Frye again and again. The Frye also has rotating exhibits of modern art and unlike other modern art exhibits in the area I have always found the ones at the Frye to be the most inspirational and thought provoking.
Open since 1952, The Museum hosts notable exhibitions of works by internationally renowned and emerging artists, as well as extensive public programs.
This is one of the best hidden gems in the city. If you like museums, put this one on your list. You will not be disappointed. One of my favorite places in Seattle.
