Then we walked back to the European Square, where we took a cable car up the hill to visit the "Mother of Georgia" sculpture and Fortress Narikala on the top of the Surolak Mountains. The 2.5 GEL van cable car took us to the top of the mountain in a few minutes. The essence of Tbilisi seems to be clearly visible here. The whole city is situated in the valley, and it is very beautiful. We first visited the large sculpture "Mother of Georgia" on one side of the cable car, and then went to Fort Narikala on the other side. The statue was built in 1958 to celebrate the year 1500 when Tbilisi was founded. It has been 60 years since then. The sculpture is a standing woman, with her left hand supporting the bowl and raising the people, and her right hand facing the enemy with a sword. It is said that this is the expression of women's compassion and perseverance.
