I like Richmond Hotels for their modern decor and well-maintained property. Unfortunately this location in particular falls short of the most basic criteria of a hotel - cleanliness, especially in Japan. There were molds found in the bathroom in between the tub and the wall, as well as in between the window silts. The location of the hotel is about 5 mins walk from the Yamagata Station. Staff were nice and hospitable. The free midnight snack and free drinks and ice cream in the lounge were nice touches to the stay.

L'hôtel est très bien conçu par et vient de se remettre à sa réputation. Les bâtiments semblent flotter sur les champs de riz. Les dîners et le petit déjeuner étaient excellents. La plupart des ingrédients sont produits localement et sont délicieux. Mais ce que j'aime le plus est les baignoires ouvertes. Les deux sont petits, mais sont soigneusement conçus avec une vue tranquille et calme.

Located on the top of a business building linking to the Yamagata station.
You won’t have to be worried even if it’s snowing or raining.
A side note to travellers from the hotter climate, the hotel doesn’t supply air conditioning during winter. Instead it has a small webbed facility that allows outside air to flow into the room. This slight chills the room. However during the day, the room will be super hot.
Initially we had a room facing the sun and when we checked in, the room is super hot. Called the customer service only to find out they didn’t have air conditioning during winter and we have to rent a fan from them.
After a slight communication, the customer service is kind enough to upgrade us to a bigger room which is slightly cooler. Big props to the customer service lady! 5 stars service !

L'emplacement est très pratique. Vous pouvez voir l'hôtel juste après avoir quitté la gare JR. La gare est reliée au viaduc. Il y a un ascenseur au bout de la ligne. Après cela, vous pouvez traverser la route en face et vous y rendre à pied. dans deux minutes ! La réception est au troisième étage, la chambre est propre et l'hôtel est relié au 7-11 en bas, ce qui est très pratique ! Le restaurant de l'hôtel est spacieux et le petit-déjeuner et le dîner sont également riches et délicieux.

The hotel is pretty well located. Only a few hundred metres away from the Base Centre.
Breakfast included and pretty well balance of dietary foods. I love the onsen

平民化的旅館，有點老舊，有點溫馨。
有welcome drink bar, 除了酒類，也有茶。旁邊有漫畫區及乒乓球桌。
浴場很好，室內池很大，有一個小露天池。
晚餐ok ，不算華麗，但都頗有心思。有牛、豬，魚生，鮑魚，各式蔬菜，也有甜品。
年未入住，價格比較高，cp 值一般，不計價錢的話，頗滿意

The hotel location is excellent and very convenient.
The room is also very spacious and comfortable.
However, one thing we were slightly disappointed with was that our request for two extra bottles of water was declined by the front desk, as they mentioned only two bottles are provided per day. We’re not sure if this is a standard policy across hotels in Japan.
Overall, we were still very satisfied with our stay.

L'hôtel est proche des boutiques de confort et des plats de restauration qui se rapprochent jusqu'à tard.
Chauffage décent dans la chambre pendant l'hiver.
Seuls les problèmes sont probablement un simple logement de base dans un type d'hôtel de qualité et d'équipement.

IInvitéWhat a gem of a place! The special thing about this place is that there are 5 private outdoor onsens as well as a gender-segregated public bath and one mixed gender outdoor bath (for this one, you need to wear a bathing suit). If you are shy of exposing yourself or like taking photos, then those 5 private outdoor onsens are just perfect. I went in the autumn, which is cooling already and I can imagine what a treat it will be in winter with all the snow.
The hotel is located almost to the top of the hill. Either drive or call them ahead and they will pick you up and drop you off in the vicinity.
My room is quaint and Japanese-styled. I didn't pay for the meal package as I knew I'd would be busy trying out all the onsens available. They are all open 24hrs. By the way, private onsen number 1 and 5 are the best and most picturesque!!!
I'm doing all a favor and posting all the pictures of the private onsens.

IInvitéThe trip was planned few weeks ahead, accommodation options in Zao Onsen are scarce. If there were other options, I probably would not go with this hotel again.
- Before arrival, I called the hotel twice using trip.com but no one answered.
- There was only one front desk staff handling check-in. I have waited for 20 minutes for check-in and the Indian family has it waited for 35 minutes. There was another staff coming out from the office and acknowledged the queue. However no action was taken despite the long wait by guest.
- I inquired about shuttle bus service but the staff at the entrance said “No shuttle bus”. I saw shuttle bus having the hotel name around the Zao Onsen area.
- On the first day of room cleaning, the cleaning lady has not replaced the used porcelain cup and Japanese cup. Also no replenishment on tea bags and toilet amenities. At this price point of over USD500 per night, I was quite surprised.
- There are 2 onsen places, one outside the hotel and one on the 1F. The outdoor onsen inside the hotel was not opened and the reason is “snow accumulation”.
Overall, the room is spacious and clean but the service did not meet the expectations.

IInvitéNous vivons avec six parents. Jusqu'à présent, j'ai vécu dans l'APA, mais cette fois, l'un d'entre eux a été la première fois à utiliser un vélo. Le mont et le coucher ne peuvent être faits que de endroits couverts, même dans la pluie. Les chambres individuelles et les chambres doubles sont très grandes! Il y a un grand piscine public, si je utilisais des serviettes installées dans ma chambre, je pourrais offrir de nouvelles serviettes à la réception, ce qui est très confortable. Petit-déjeuner buffet et beaucoup de plats locaux, je suis fermement convaincu que c'est 2000 yens. Recommandé à beaucoup de gens qui peuvent manger.
Le meilleur est qu'il soit directement connecté au plus grand Es-Mall ♪ de Kaogan, et il est préférable de partir sans sortir, et les roues et les familles avec enfants sont aussi sûres.
La position est 4 parce que je ne vois pas le signe de l'hôtel après la gare et que je suis allé à la boutique de confort environ 5 minutes (450 m), je me sens un peu inconvenant. Mais le parking de l'hôtel est devant vous, donc si vous conduisez au magasin de confort ou à la boutique S-Mall jusqu'à 20 h, il n'y a pas de problème. 々 Je visite Zhuang, donc je dis que la prochaine fois, je serai ici. Chacun a de belles souvenirs. Merci beaucoup.

IInvitéAbsolutely lovely place. At first I thought I'd be uncomfortable with how spaceous the room was (I'm a very jumpy solo traveller), but the room was just so comfy with an excellent view. The heater was a bit hot, but there was an electric fan too, so all was great.
The hotel allows you to have a free 50 minute private bath each night, and the private baths are amazing, able to accommodate up to five persons and with windows to let in the light and stuff. Excellent onsen water -- very acidic and very hot. Takes some time getting used to the heat, but once you do it's a heavenly experience. There are also public baths (free of charge) that you could enjoy throughout the night and into early morning (they're closed for cleaning only during 9-12 in the morning), one indoor and one outdoor, both connected to one another. The outdoor one is a bit small, but it's so refreshing to be able to flee from the stifling indoor onsen to enjoy the crisp winter air while soaking up in the heat.

For some reason, the cleaning lady/man left some black rubber debris on the floor which looked sus and I ended up cleaning after them 😑 The onsen is small and old, but tolerable due to its sufficient heat. Breakfast is good but it ends up taking up precise (and critical) time because breakfast starts at 730, and by the time I got to the ropeway station (at 810) the queue is already super long and I waited three hours before boarding the cable car. Only one staff (mixed race?) speaks English and he doesn't look particularly friendly like other Japanese staff, but I suppose he's helpful enough to Western standards.

IInvitéA wonderful place to stay in. The service was fantastic. The room was huge, much too large for just a solo traveler like me but it would have been perfect if I had brought my wife and child along. The onsen quality was great, albeit the fittings at the shower area were a bit old. The food was hands down amazing and featured great local produce. Honestly there was too much for one person to finish! What I especially liked was that they had a separate room on the first floor where if it was too early for you to check in, you could drop your luggage off, change, and then grab your gear and head to the slopes. Same thing if you intend to charge the slopes a bit more on your last day, just leave your stuff in the storage room, hit the slopes, come back and change out, hit the onsen for the last time, then go off. Definitely recommending this place to my friends visiting Zao.

Yyuzu-1123C'était proche de la gare de Yamagata et avait un excellent accès !
Ils avaient un verre de bienvenue et un bar où l'on pouvait préparer son propre alcool, et c'était réconfortant de voir adultes et enfants s'amuser. Les femmes ont reçu 5 articles de toilette gratuits, de l'huile capillaire, des packs et des draps relaxants pour leurs pieds, ce dont j'étais heureux après m'être promené !
Il y a un petit bain de source chaude et j'ai pu vraiment me détendre après une promenade dans Yamadera et la ville de Yamagata ! J'ai aussi utilisé la laverie automatique parce que mes vêtements étaient très en sueur, mais vous pouvez les laver et les sécher pour 100 yens, donc c'est moins cher que dans d'autres hôtels. Tout le monde l'utilise, donc il y a du monde vers 18h00, et si vous le laissez sans surveillance, il finira dans le panier, donc les filles doivent être prudentes lorsqu'elles lavent leurs sous-vêtements !
J'ai été très satisfait ! L'imoni du petit-déjeuner était également délicieux !
