Mill Rose Inn

We spent three nights in the Botticelli Rose Room, and just loved our stay. The room is beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and had everything we needed. The fireplace was perfect, as it got chilly in the evenings. The attention to every detail was so nice. In-room coffee, a mini fridge, mints on the bedside table, plenty of towels, fluffy bathrobes, great-smelling toiletries, and even two umbrellas by the door in case of rain. There was always coffee, water, biscuits, wine, and brandy available in the main sitting area. The outside area is pretty, with flowers blooming in the gardens and in vases on the tables. Breakfast is not on-site, rather we got a coupon good for breakfast at two different restaurants (so we could choose which restaurant each morning). Both restaurants were just a few blocks away, and we enjoyed the short walk to breakfast each day. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our romantic getaway at Mill Rose Inn, and we will be back.

Quite possibly the nicest, most charming place we’ve ever stayed in. Full of character and I can only liken it to Rivendell from Lord of the Rings. It’s simply stunning and the location is perfect. Treat yourselves and spend at least one night of your life here.

We enjoyed our 25th anniversary at this B&B. Luxurious sheets and bedding in the Bordeaux Rose Suite on the 1st floor. We would definitely recommend this room, as it has a sitting area with fireplace next to the main room with a king bed and adjoining corner tub and shower. Complimentary red wine, sherry, and brandy along with high-end Peet’s Coffee pods and a variety of Stash tea bags accompanied the breakfast pastries that ranged from blueberry cheese danish to cinnamon rolls to apple fritters to cherry Danish and homemade gluten-free chocolate cookies and chocolate chip cookies were delicious. The complimentary breakfast was at the nearby Moonside Bakery and we enjoyed the homemade oatmeal, vegetarian egg scramble, and French toast. We had the opportunity to visit with the gracious owners Jay, Matt and his wife, and Chris along with the innkeepers. Matt and Chris provided helpful hiking tips and local haunts.

To start, my boyfriend and I have stayed at this inn three times. It is a really cute hotel and the room we stay in has a fireplace and a jacuzzi tub. It’s perfect for us to relax and escape the stress of being covid nurses. This last stay however, ended with us leaving at 5am, as a fire alarm incessantly alarmed and kept us awake. My boyfriend called to complain, as we obviously weren’t able to sleep and had to miss out on breakfast because we left due to the fire alarm and they offered an apology. I became upset and wrote an email demanding compensation in the form of a free stay or refund or I was going to leave a bad review. I was shocked when the response I received was threatening and accusations were made that I was attempting to extort the hotel. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. I just wanted customer service and did not think it was unreasonable to ask for a free night stay to compensate for the inconvenience of our trip being ruined. I contacted the phone number which was left at the end of the poorly written and argumentative email I received and spoke with Matt (he was not the author of the email). I was angry. He explained that the fire alarm went off due to another visitor’s burned popcorn. I understand that, but it’s not my problem and my stay should not have been ruined as a result. He told me that bad reviews can easily be removed. I told him that I did not want to do that but I wanted to come and stay again, in which case he said that we could. He asked me to send a date that would work for my boyfriend and I and that he wanted to “make things right”. I was pleased with this response. I sent a date the next day and never heard from Matt again. He actually “butt dialed” me at one point and left a 4 minute long message by accident. I attempted to contact him again once by phone and twice by email but I guess he changed his mind about making everything better. These people clearly need a lesson in customer service and I will no longer stay at this hotel or their other hotel, The Nantucket.
