Hotel Goldener Engl is situated in the centre of Hall in Tirol, a beautiful historical town surrounded by majestic mountains of the Alps in the vicinity of Innsbruck - just 10 minutes ride with S-Bahn. The building of the hotel is a historical castle and is a member of historic hotels of Europe. I was greeted by a very welcoming, friendly, kind, helpful and professional staff. The check-in process was very quick and smooth also thanks to an option to fill in the information online, prior to arrival. I was lucky enough to get the best suite in the hotel which was a beautiful, spacious, attic rustic room equipped with a big relaxing bath tube as well es a sauna directly in the room, separated toilet and a bathroom, comfortable bed and soundproof wall isolation. I was on a business trip and found it very relaxing hearing the raindrops on the attic windows in a pleasantly heated room and having a possibility of using a private sauna after a tiring day. This room is like your energizing oasis relaxing and refreshing your mind, body and soul. After a good sleep in a big and comfortable bed I enjoyed a tasteful tirol breakfast with individual serving and plentiful choice keeping me satiated until the afternoon. The public transport connections are very good, easy and punctual. The hotel has its own very good restaurant but there are good restaurants within a walking distance from the hotel too. The centre of Hall in Tirol is a small historic and picturesque one with winding streets and traditional small handicraft shops. I travelled to Hall in Tirol in the middle of November and my experience was exceptional. I felt like a queen in my unique hotel room and after my three night stay I did not really want to check out. :-) It surely was one of the best and unforgettable hotel stays I experienced until now and I will be very happy to come back again. Thank you very much!

We remained blocked outside despite having followed all the instructions to pick up our key. The key was unfortunately not in its place, becase some other client took it. Not a great surprise in the middle of the night under the rain and after you have driven for 7 hours. This is a recurrent situation as the hotel told us so there should be an emergency number directly IN THE MESSAGE with the check in instructions. The hotel is claiming there was an emergency number next to the key box, but honestly we have only found a number next to which was written in bold THIS IS NOT HOTEL STAFF NUMBER, call only in case of emergency, you will be charged 80€. As I can see from other reviews also in other languages, our case is not the only one and the clients who called the number are claiming they waited 1,5h for the “emergency” person to come, so actually I am glad, we went somewhere else. I am just wondering why the management still did not change the check in procedure. Simply more boxes in order to have one box per client in order to avoid clients taking other client’s key or at least explaining what to do in case you don’t find the key directly with the check-in information - none of these does sound complicated to me. But maybe it is just more convenient for the management not to have to pay the staff at the reception and cleaning but charge the client for the room anyway. Does not sound much like a honest business to me though. Because of course the hotel is making us pay for the room we couldn’t check into, telling us it’s not their fault because probably someone else took our key. That’s really unacceptable.
