The hotel is conveniently located near the Otaru Canal, with easy access to tourist attractions and amenities. The room is small, but clean and comfortable. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel provides parking, however it is charged.

We stayed a night and chosen grid as a base as it's well situated in the middle of Otaru. - We checked in in the evening after a long day out. I was trying to get my family to offload the bags and check in first, hotel staff saw us and approached us at the parking lot, we thought it's impressive for staff to have noticed us and came forward to help and direct us but we were quick to jump to conclusion. Instead of assisting us, the staff ask us to put the bag back on the car so he could direct us to a parking lot which requires payment. It's okay that assumption failed, but when we are at the parking lot, the staff direct me to park in the initiate lot, but subsequently changed his mind and directed me to park at the lot beside despite the fact I have turned off the engine and gotten off the car, and there's easily another 20 lots around. That being said, I am fine with moving, the final straw for the poor rating came when they saw my wife struggling to wheel the big bags for the family across the snow to the hotel but offered no help. I think it's ungentlemanly and unspoken off of japanese service culture. - Rooms and onsen is impressive though, we stayed in the top level which only has three family rooms I guess and the view in the morning is good. Amenities are self serviced at level one across the check in counter. Top notch face mist and hairdryer in the room was a plus. Cleanliness was top notch as well. - location was central to Otaru Canal and JR Otaru station.

Great hotel with spacious nice traditional rooms. Overall the hotel is very spacious and has a grand ambience. Rooms offer a very nice view of the Sea and yachts. Rooms equipped with a capsule coffee machine. Shower gels and shampoo are very nice like Lemongrass and ginger. The hotel is linked to AEON mall and railway stations by passage corridor. When you arrive at otaru Chiko station instead of going to the street level, you may find the corridor on the same level with station with the sign Grand Hotel. You will pass the shopping mall hall and end up at the hotel.

I really enjoyed stay here. I got out of the Otaru JR station and the hotel is, across the road. Room was clean and functionable. I was on 9th floor and my window view was a big bonus. There is onsen but i missed it due to lack of time. Hotel is close to canal and shops and i have to mention the Triangle Market., where i had one of my best meal - grilled halibut. Check out my window view. This is a good base to explore the famous shops and eat good seafood.

C'était un hôtel très propre et magnifique. D'habitude, je n'aime pas les oreillers d'hôtel, mais les oreillers d'Authent étaient super. J'étais content que le grand bain public tombe sous la période de gratuité. Quand j'ai pris un bain après 17h00, il n'y avait personne et j'ai pu profiter du bain privé lentement ! De plus, la réceptionniste du bain public était très gentille. Le buffet du petit déjeuner était également très bon. Dernièrement, j'ai séjourné dans des hôtels où le pain n'est pas très bon, mais le pain d'Authent vient de la boulangerie du premier étage, et c'était vraiment délicieux. Surtout les scones sont délicieux et recommandés. Le potage, le canard fumé et le fromage à la crème étaient également riches et délicieux, et je les voulais comme collation avec du vin le soir. De plus, j'aimerais utiliser cet hôtel quand je viens à Otaru. Merci de m'aider.

Enjoyed the private onsen facing the ocean inside the room. It was so relaxing!!! The hotel restaurant served great French cuisine with great services. Friendly hotel staff helps my mom and my aunt ordered an in room massage services, and they were impressed with the skills of the therapists. On my next visit to Otaru, definitely would love to stay here again.

Hotel is near the all touristy places like the canal. So most things were within walking distance. We completed most things in like 2-3 hours, so in fact there wasn't a real need to stay over a night in Otaru. By evening there wasn't anything much to do so we just stayed in the room as it was raining as well. After checking out, we drove to the next destination. Hotel staffs were incredibly helpful and courteous.

We absolutely loved this ryokan experience! Stayed for 2d1n as a couple and absolutely loved the place! We booked the room with the private onsen and it was a lovely small space on the 2nd floor we could enjoy privately. The onsen is not too big, maybe 1.5 x 1.5 meters, but it was spacious for the two of us. We also found out that you can book a 45 minute slot for a separate private onsen for about ¥2200, which we may have done instead, had we known about it before booking. The japanese-style room was comfortable and had the usual amenities provided, alongside other nice additions like lotions and creams. The staff helped us to set up our futon (japanese-style bed) after dinner, and it was overall a very comfortable experience. The staff are super friendly and service was incredible. We got the dinner and breakfast package and the food was excellent. We had to choose both the dinner slot in advance, and it is first-come-first-serve. Dinner was served to us in the room over 1.5h and was a really amazing 12-course meal with instructions on the eating order. Breakfast was more standard, but still nice, we took it in the dining hall. The lounge is open till 10pm and we could take drinks and refreshment freely, including some small snacks and soft drinks. But they stop serving beer at 9pm. The onsens also have mini-fridges with free popsicles. There is also an outside area you can access from 3pm - 9pm that serves hot coffee and wine, with free marshmallows you can roast on the outside firepit. It was really nice. The garden is by far the nicest part of the hotel, it is really big and well decorated, with many nice places for photos and to enjoy a hot drink from the lounge. The space is quite large and might take about 20 minutes to fully explore. The only downside I can think of is that the location is quite hard to access. We chose to get to and from the ryokan by taxi, but there is also a shuttle bus service, from what I understand. When we arrived, the reception told us that there would be a shuttle bus leaving at 10:45 to Otaruchikko station. We still ended up requesting a taxi from the front desk though, which they were happy to help us book (I couldn't get any taxis by cab in the location). Overall a really amazing stay that we would absolutely recommend. The price tag might seem high for a ”3 star” hotel, but the ranking is deceptive, we absolutely had a 5 star experience. I had a pleasant one night stay at Hotel Sonia. The hotel's location was excellent, situated in front of the Otaru Canal and within walking distance to shopping and dining areas, as well as the train station (though snowy conditions made it a bit tricky). While the hotel lobby looked modern, the room interior felt outdated. Note that late check-out comes with a 2000 JPY per hour fee, so plan accordingly. Overall, it was a decent one-night stay.

Cozy Inn is superb, can easily be reached by bus or by car. Plenty of parking spaces. Room is big and clean. Close to Aeon and Daiso. Walkable to the canal if you are not driving. Check in uses machine and strictly only after 3pm, so do not come early. Overall, I highly recommend!
