City Lodge Hotel Fourways

Sandton|À 0.44km de la Pineslopes Shopping Centre
Where does one start? Well, from the beginning of making my reservation I had some problems. I called a couple of times and got cut off. Eventually, I got through only to speak to 4 different people. Got cut off again. This time, I called back. The GM answered the phone. Finally got helped. However, I got the excuse of problems with the phone line.. Upon arrival at 16:30, I was told the rooms were not ready. Only after I told them I give them 10 minutes or else I will go somewhere else. The room all of a sudden became available! Upon getting to the room, the roomsafe was locked. Called to ask to come and open it and also for an ironing board. Now, this is where the 4 star service really started. Waited 15 minutes, nothing. Called again and told the reception I'm in a rush and need the safe and iron board to come as I will be late. Again, I waited 10 minutes. While I was about to take a shower, my door opened. NO knock on the door just opened.. What is this? The staff just walked into the room without saying anything. Towels for my room? I did not ask for it. Wrong room. After almost 25 minutes at last, someone showed up only to tell me the battery needs to be changed? That is no rocket science. I already told them this over the phone. They will come back later. Got the iron.. but the status it was in was not what you would expect from a four star hotel. Ask to speak to the GM. Reply from the reception was she is not able to take your call she is aware of the issue, and you can mail her. Well, GM gives this reply. You, as the GM, get someone in charge to speak to your guest. As a paying guest, it is your responsibility to make sure your guest is happy, GM!!!! Saturday morning at 4:30 car alarm was going of in the car park. Nothing was done about it. Had to call done to reception to ask them to go have a look. Told them we will check out as the hotels are not up to standard. Response was I need to speak to the assistant GM. Wow, now they have an assistant GM available on duty? We decided to stay as we only had 2 days. Gone out for shopping. Got back. Both elevators were not working. We had to go through the kitchen, back of house, to get to our rooms. Another couple also had the same problems. This is by far the worst CITY lodge I have stayed in ever. Until now, message or email from the GM or assistant GM to apologise for the inconvenience and bad experience over the 2 days will I stay here again never. Will I recommend anyone to stay here? HELL NO. Stay away far, far away. Take your business over the road, pay a bit extra, and don't get all the drama and stress. The GM needs to get some training in how to deal with guest problems. Managers also. Do tell me no problems. It was no problem. I will not be righting this review. I will take it one step further and also be contacting the head office

Pivot Hotel Montecasino

Sandton|À 0.49km de la Pineslopes Shopping Centre
I've stayed at the Pivot (Southern Sun as it was previously called) quite regularly since 2012. The Hotel was always recommended by business colleagues and customers, also quite popular with international sport teams. I travel for business. So the bad first: The Wi-Fi is absolutely atrocious, it's gone through a variety of iterations over the years but this has to be the worst performing hotel Wi-Fi i have experienced (in a city) for a very long time. It was pretty bad in November 2022 and we were told they were replacing the Wi-Fi and it wasn't finished and now March 2023 (I assume the people ran off), barely usable, which for business travel is a major problem and something the hotel should address. AirConditioning - It is pretty ancient, noisy and struggles in the heat. Restaurant Hours - Offers no flexibility and is possibly why it is quite lightly used, menu's have reduced, options reduced. There is the main Monte****** Complex within 5 mins walk which has lots of options. Room Amenities - There used to be water / can of fix in the fridge. Now just one water, I am pleased the cookies have still survived (albeit a lot smaller). The shower still leaks across the entire bathroom and the sinks have never looked that hygienic even from 2012 (square manually assembled). The Better: The rooms are clean and well maintained, very functional, the shower works but the pressure seems to have been reduced over the last couple of years and the shower heads need replacing / cleaning better. The Good: The beds are very comfortable, the pillows also good quality and the black out curtains ensure an undisturbed evening. The rooms do not pick up much external noise, so you are not disturbed by your neighbours or people in the corridors. The bar is good and service from the staff is generally very good, normally requests are dealt with very efficiently and the occasional time I have had to address an issue, was also dealt with quickly. The outside Pool is also lovely (cold) but weather permitting is a nice place, as well as the Pool Decking. Great location, lots of secure parking and generally a very safe location.
