Hotel Review: Ala Hotel Kyoto Location - 9/10, the hotel is just around 6- 7 mins from the Kyoto station and the tourist bus station. Room - 9/10, the room is spacious and with the toilet and both rooms separated the same as the typical Japanese hotel. Decorations - 10/10, the decorations are very new no matter the room and lobby. Facility - 8/10, the hotel provides the hot springs at 10/F although I did not try it but I think it is very value added to have this. We really loved our stay in Ala Hotel Kyoto. We originally planned to stay for 2 nights but we ended up extending for another day and spending Chris**as eve there. Lovely vibe, lovely people. The onsen was an amazing experience!

Location is the best, situated in a alley which only few minutes walking distance to Kyoto station, also between walking distance to Higashi Hongan-ji temple and Yodobashi Kyoto. Hotel itself is modern Japanese design. Room is clean and big enough for two person. Satisfied with breakfast at it's variety of choices both in Japanese or western. Natural hot spa is another plus point for this hotel. Recommend to book early to avoid full house or higher room rate.

Hotel very clean and spacious.It is located within walking distance from Kyoto Station,yet very quiet.

The hotel is new and the room is quite spacious. It's within minutes walk to the Kyoto station where shops and restaurants are. There's a nice 7-11 across the road as well.

The hotel cannot demonstrate the good service of one would expect from a Japanese hotel. Room cleaners are not local people and have some self hygiene issue with some strong body smell. They are guys from South Asia and I would prefer local cleaning ladies who may handle things more delicately. Breakfast is very bad even with no hard boiled eggs as selection. There is also no window in a typical room since it’s blocked by AC machines

Comfortable stay. Onsen is great and really relaxing. Perfectly located close to the railway lines and main attractions.

I'm sorry, I had no issues with all four elements - cleanliness location service amenties, but I had to get your attention. NO WINDOWS!!!! YOU CANNOT OPEN WINDOWS!!! THE ENTIRE HOTEL AIR IS LIKE AIRPLANE AIR!! YOU CANNOT EVEN CRANK IT OPEN A BIT! ALL WINDOWS ARE LOCKED!!!! They give you some options like air purifier/humidifier/AC but we just could not stay in the hotel for long and the air felt so stuffy and dry everywhere. Everything was beautiful as seen in the photos, but the air quality was so, so awful please take note of this.

A relatively new establishment, Ala Hotel Kyoto boasts one of the finest outdoor onsens I've encountered on my travels. Perched on the 10th floor, the onsen is accompanied by a tranquil zen lounge, ideal for unwinding post-soak or awaiting laundry completion. Though laundry services are complimentary, guests should note that detergent is not provided. While complimentary snacks were notably absent, the expansive onsen facilities and serene ambiance compensated for the oversight. However, it's worth mentioning that the onsen's operating hours are relatively limited, closing at 11 pm nightly, with only two hair dryers available. Upon entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised by its spaciousness—ample enough to accommodate three luggage pieces comfortably. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the bathtub affording breathtaking views of the hotel's surroundings, perfect for soaking in the beauty of sunrise or sunset. Complete with access to YouTube and Netflix, the room provided ample entertainment options. For a delightful treat, indulge in soft-serve ice cream from the cafe adjacent to the hotel—an ideal conclusion to a day of exploration. The bed exuded comfort, while the addition of a sofa near the entrance provided a convenient spot to unwind without soiling the bedding with outdoor attire. Overall, while Ala Hotel Kyoto may lack certain amenities, its spacious accommodations, strategic location, and reasonable pricing make it a standout choice for travelers seeking tranquility and convenience in equal measure.
