Avis : Hotel Okura Kyoto

It’s an extending stay of another 2 nights! The service was consistently good, the girls at the front desk defiantly speak better English than the guys. Our second room was facing to the west, there’s been some weird humming noise that you can hear in the room time to time. We didn’t bother to report it to the hotel as we were out for sightseeing most of the day. The breakfast was not as good as for example swissotel in Osaka. But it’s good enough to let you have a good start of the day!

Top end hotel of all we tried while traveling around Japan. Large room, spacious bathroom, good quality beds and pillows. Convenient central Kyoto location, next to subway station and in close proximity to many local attractions. If you a keen runner, there is a beautiful run and walking route around the river and map is provided by hotel. Breakfast was reasonable prices with good verity of both western and Asian food. There was a separate Japanese breakfast restaurant but we were not confident enough to try it as we don’t know the routine and etiquette well enough. (First time in Japan) We walked from the hotel to Geisha district and explored nearby parks. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and a full street of souvenir shops. Next door there is a spirit shop, which is not busy and this is where in a non crowded atmosphere I got good advice and bought a preferred bottle of Sake. Glad I did it in Kyoto because when we returned to Tokyo airport the choice was limited, all duty free shops were overcrowded by stressed tourists trying to buy gifts at last minute before departure. Highly recommend this hotel for your stay.

One of our favourite hotels around the world. Location is excellent with a short walk to the shopping district. Room is dated but there are some touch of luxury. Parking is complimentary too

Hi .very old hotel .room bathroom very old .booked on ctrip but find out that agoda was 8 pourcent lowest for same room category same dates . As ctrip advertise lowest price garranty that just not true .

Old Hotel but very well managed. So I felt its oldness as a tradition and heritage. I was impressed during my stay..

Optimal location, friendly service, superb view for mountain side rooms, especially corner rooms. I would recommend Okura to all my friends who visit Kyoto.

The hotel location is very good. It is very convenient for the guests to visit Kyoto sightseeing points by taking subway because Hotel's B2F is directly connected to subway station in a short distance. The quality of breakfast is also good.

The hotel service is excellent, try to offer tips to the bellboy was rejected, and the free shuttle service to the JR station is very nice feature. But the room size is a bit small consider the price paid. Overall consider a good choice even though the hotel has showed some wear and tear, especially the toilet and shower room are outdated, probably more than 20 years old style.
