Garrya Nijo Castle Kyoto - Banyan Group

Kyoto gosyo - Karasuma Kyoto|À 0.68km de la JR Nijo Station
This is a stylish, new, boutique hotel with impeccable customer service. Everyone who works in the hotel is friendly, welcoming, and helpful to guests. The room decor is magnificent, as they've thought of both modern and personal touches to make staying at Garry Nijo Castle Hotel very comfortable. The entire hotel and rooms are spotless. My husband and I stayed in a king sized, well-being suite for four nights to celebrate his birthday and our anniversary. We love modern decor, and this hotel delivers. The rooms are beautifully designed and included things like bath salts, Nespresso machines, and tea pots. Breakfast was convenient each morning and tasty. Because the hotel is small, it only offers a few meal options for breakfast, but we still enjoyed it. The location is walkable, though it's slightly off the beaten path. Very quiet and peaceful yet just a few blocks down from retail and restaurants. It's a nice central place to stay for a visit to Kyoto. The restaurant Singular was nice to try (the plating was artistic), but there are equally good options within walking distance of the hotel. We would certainly stay at this hotel again when we return to Kyoto and will recommend it to friends who also enjoy boutique properties and aren't concerned about amenities like swimming pools and fitness centers. Thank you to all of the kind hotel staff who made our stay truly exceptional.

Hotel the Mitsui Kyoto, a Luxury Collection Hotel & Spa

Kyoto gosyo - Karasuma Kyoto|À 1.06km de la JR Nijo Station
We were a group of 6 people staying at the Hotel Mitsui on a trek through Japan. Suffice it to say, that the group was all pleased that we stayed here. Our initial check in process was a bit bumpy (no tea service) as it was clear everyone was checking into the hotel for a holiday weekend. However, within 30 minutes, we were all on our way to our rooms. Overall, the hotel and the rooms are designed in muted tones and a modern zen vibe. Where other hotels would simply have drywall covered with pictures, the Mitsui has clearly thought about every surface. We were in a room that looked out to the central garden, which is beautiful. The room had a nice long marble bench at the entrance which was nice for putting shoes on or setting things down to pack / unpack. Further in the room, there is a bar area, desk area and a nice long padded bench by the window. Controls for the room are near the bed and you can dim lights or raise and lower blinds with ease. The bathroom is a very clever design with two pocket door entrances, offering a closet area, double sink, a wet room with tub and shower and rom for the toilet. The room for the toilet is wide and very peaceful. Of course, it comes with the fancy Toto Neorest toilet that raises and lowers the seat automatically, has a heated seat, has a bidet feature and more. The shower offers both a hand held and a rain head that with a fine spray. Bathroom toiletries are crafted for the Hotel Mitsui. Of course, robes were available (just ask if you need a different size). Let’s talk about sleeping…. The bed was among the most comfortable that I have ever tried (firm, with just the right amount of softness). Down pillows and a duvet complete the scene. And course, should you not like your pillow, there is a pillow menu. The rooms at the Mitsui are quiet with blackout shades. At night, gentle nightlights illuminate the path to the bathroom. In all, the sleep experience is well thought out and devine. One of the stand out features of the hotel would be the Thermal Springs in the basement. The Thermal Springs are a modern version of a traditional Japanese onsen. Access is open to everyone in the hotel, but the number of people permitted in is managed to in more than 14 people at a time. You have to call ahead to make sure there is space, but in our case, we were always able to get in. Anyone who out touring in Kyoto, should make time in their busy schedule to visit the Thermal Springs between their tours and dinner - it is a great way to wash off the city and relax before dinner - very civilized. This review is particularly fun for me as our stay at the Mitsui ultimately caused us to break up with our travel agent. He was SO insistent that we stay at the Ritz , he could not imagine trying something new like the Mitsui (nor was he willing o have his team check it out). In the end, I feel vindicated, we loved our stay at the Mitsui and would happily return

Moxy Kyoto

Kyoto gosyo - Karasuma Kyoto|À 0.15km de la JR Nijo Station
The decision to stay at the Moxy Kyoto Nijo was a last minute one. We had booked an alternate hotel but decided to utilize my Marriott Gold Status at the Moxy. Using points, I offset the price of our 2-night stay. I also let them know we were celebrating a birthday and anniversary which they surprised us with a hand written greeting on the room's mirror. They also gave us an extra round of ”welcome drinks” at the bar aka hotel desk. The hotel is located near the JR Nijo Station down the street from Nijo Castle. We had transferred from Kyoto Station via the Shinkansen from Tokyo. The hotel is rather new and very hipster. The check in desk and bar is open 24 hours. It's a cute boutique hotel with loads of amenities. Our view wasn't the greatest but we had a lovely rain shower, Toto automatic toilet/bidet, comfy Queen sized bed, small fridge, free water upon request, clean pajamas, and lots of electrical outlets. They also had a laundry center that we didn't use. Let me just say, the welcome cocktails are kind of small so order the beer or wine instead to get a decent pour. We didn't have complimentary breakfast at this hotel so we opted to go out into the city for our meals and snacks. However, they did let us use the espresso machine which put out a fairly good cup of coffee or cappuccino depending on your desire. As we were close the Nijo Castle, we walked visited the castle. The hotel is close to the train that takes you to the bamboo forest as well. Just down the street is a shopping street and local supermarket where you can pick up fresh fruit. Since we were centrally located in Kyoto, we made a quick trip over to Osaka on our first evening there. Just know that the trains stop after a certain hour so don't stay out too late in a different city without a way to get back. We were lucky in that we made our way back on one of the last trains out of Osaka back. While there, we also visited Nishiki which was a good ways away so take the subway or bus because our walk back in the afternoon was long and a bit exhausting. Check out was also smooth. The staff we encountered were great. We had a good stay at the Moxy and definitely would stay again.

Resi Stay Nishijin
